SUMMARY:# The Clinical Laboratory Director (General Supervisor per CLIA requirements) is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operations of the Laboratory and Pathology Departments, and for the selection, orientation, coaching, and performance appraisal of all employees.# Responsibilities include; overseeing the performance of chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests performed in the laboratory to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases and the accurate and precise reporting of test results; ensuring services are of the best quality, are cost contained and are carried out in an expeditious manner; working collaboratively with the laboratory Medical Director to assure all Quality Management procedures are implemented as designed, regularly evaluated, and reported on monthly; recognizing results or problems that require referral to the Pathologist; assuring competency of all personnel; overseeing the financial operation of the department and formulating the budget; maintaining performance improvement activities within the department and participating in continuous quality improvement (#CQI#) activities; maintaining efficient and effective departmental operations, policies and procedures in compliance with all state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols.# Serves as a key member of the Baxter Regional leadership team, effectively collaborating with others throughout the organization in support of the organization#s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. JOB REQUIREMENTS Education:# Bachelor Degree in management or business administration and/or Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry or Clinical Laboratory.# Master Degree in related field preferred. Experience: 5 years clinical laboratory management experience in an acute care setting.# Proven leadership experience required.
