The Director of Leadership Giving is a key member of the Development team, responsible for leading and growing the organization's leadership giving program. This role focuses on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding mid-level donors with the capacity to give $1,000-$9,999 annually, serving as a bridge between annual giving and major gifts. The Director will develop strategies to identify, engage, and retain donors while overseeing a team of leadership giving professionals to achieve ambitious fundraising goals.Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a comprehensive leadership giving strategy to increase donor engagement and revenue.
- Establish benchmarks and performance metrics to monitor progress and success.
- Collaborate with the annual giving and major gifts teams to develop a pipeline for high-value donor prospects.
- Leverage donor data and analytics to segment and personalize outreach efforts.
- Manage a personal portfolio of leadership giving prospects and donors, building relationships to maximize giving potential. Oversee the development of customized donor engagement plans, ensuring consistent and meaningful communication.
- Assist with stewardship programs and events tailored to leadership donors.
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of Leadership Giving Officers and support staff.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to ensure team success and retention.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation within the team.
- Partner with program staff to understand funding priorities and communicate impact to donors effectively.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of capital campaigns and other fundraising initiatives.
- Work closely with senior leadership to identify funding opportunities and align donor engagement strategies with organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in fundraising, with a focus on mid-level giving, major gifts, or related areas.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals and managing donor portfolios.
- Experience leading and managing staff, with demonstrated success in team building and performance management.
