Job Description:
Job DescriptionResponsible for designing new or revamping existing training programs with the support of other regional directors; deliver the aforementioned programs across the Business Units ( BUs ) of the region; establish strategies with BU leaders to address training needs and ensure budgetary arrangements are in place; prepare a training plan in the first quarter of the year based on each BU's training needs; coordinate and lead quarterly revisions of resource nominations and related training requirements to cover for late, unbudgeted requests; conduct monthly meetings to communicate updates on the training plan for the year; coordinate and conduct the delivery of training with the BUs; prepare annual reports using yearly results; lead and manage regular meetings with BU's leaders to evaluate training needs across the business; engage with BU leaders to identify and standardize the ideal career path for critical positions within the region to ensure high quality of candidates for succession planning purposes; engage with DPW HUB in the revision of training material, at least twice a year, to ensure the material remains updated and relevant; responsible for the annual revision of training portfolio to evaluate what new training material should be included based on existing business needs and new business developments, such as the inclusion of Logistics as a new pillar of the business; utilize training materials preparation, container terminal operations management, Navis Sparcs, container terminal logistics planning, and container terminal planning strategy to perform duties; sponsor innovation through programs aimed at encouraging employees to continuously submit their ideas for process improvement; benchmark best practices from other organizations known for excelling in the field; lead and manage evaluations/assessments of leadership levels across the region to identify and implement the most adequate Leadership Program based on the needs found; conduct periodic meetings to monitor progress on the implemented plans; analyze each training matrix to ensure it covers training needs identified in line with business requirements and strategy; establish goals of percentage of employees to be trained annually from the total workforce; assist BUs on the selection of suitable candidates for key operational positions such as Planning Manager, Yard Strategist, Shift Manager, Yard and Vessel Supervisors; and assist BUs regarding specialized training, coaching and support on Yard Planning Strategies, Expert Decking Configuration, Prime Route Configuration, and Job Dispatching training.Location: Charlotte, NC and various unanticipated locations throughout the US;Salary: $147,000 per year;Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Education, Human Resources, Training and Development, or in a related field of study (will accept equivalent foreign degree);Experience: Two (2) years in the position above, as a Lean Manager, as a Manager - Operational Learning & Development, as a Shift Manager, as a Yard Planner Sr. Supervisor, as a Yard Planning Manager, or in a related occupation;Other Requirements: Experience must include two (2) years' use of all the following: training materials preparation, container terminal operations management, Navis Sparcs, container terminal logistics planning, and container terminal planning strategy.Will also accept any suitable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
