Job Description:

My client is a large US investment bank and is seeking to hire a Director-level Leveraged Finance Credit Risk Manager. This position will report directly into the Global Chief Credit Officer.

This role will primarily focus on managing credit risk across the banks corporate portfolio including leveraged deals. You will be responsible for evaluating credit applications, conducting in-depth financial analysis, and presenting risk assessments and recommendations to senior management. This role ensures alignment with internal policies, regulatory guidelines, and the firm's overall risk appetite.

Responsibilities include but aren't limited to:

  • Review and assess credit applications related to both IG and non-IG corporate credit transactions, including detailed financial analysis and creditworthiness evaluations.
  • Provide independent, well-reasoned credit decisions while adhering to the firm's risk policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
  • Monitor the ongoing credit quality of the portfolio, identifying potential risks and early warning signs of issues across corporate credit exposures.
  • Work closely with front-office teams to support the due diligence process, challenge assumptions, and assist in structuring transactions to mitigate credit risk.
  • Evaluate risks and recommend risk mitigation strategies, particularly in response to emerging market conditions, borrower performance, and changes in financial structures.

This position is in Midtown NYC and is in office 3 days/week. Client is seeking a strong credit risk candidate with significant exposure to leveraged finance. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience.
