The Opportunity:

Our Logistics & Warehouse Director will be responsible for the ongoing management of the warehouse operations in our Evans Georgia and Lehi, Utah facilities including inbound receiving, inventory control, order fulfillment and outbound shipping, continuous improvement, and maintaining clean, safe, and efficient operations. This position also oversees domestic and international logistics functions including carrier selection, vendor management, and transportation budgeting. Leadership responsibilities include effective hiring, coaching, and developing a high-performance team. Leading the way with safety, quality, productivity, service, budget management, and process improvements to meet recteqs business objectives and high standards of customer service is of the utmost importance. This role works in close collaboration and coordination with the Facilities Manager, Safety Leadership, and Customer Service. This position will report to the Vice President of Operations.

Logistics Responsibilities:

  • National, regional, and local transportation at the consumer production locations both inbound and outbound, LTL, and small parcel
  • Negotiate and maintain carrier contracts in partnership with 3rd party logistics brokers
  • Seek out and implement innovative transportation solutions that will help recteq remain competitive
  • Act as key interface with 3rd party logistics brokers and manage vendor relationships
  • Author and monitor the annual logistics and department budget
  • Build and maintain a network of high quality, service conscientious, reliable, and responsive carriers
  • Performance tracking of all carriers against key metrics
  • Oversee companywide transportation and vendor management/pricing
  • Track, analyze, and report on transportation costs & performance metrics
  • Oversee and track intra-company movement of product between facilities
  • Oversee national pellet distribution transportation and logistics planning
  • Provide guidance and establish the strategic direction for contract negotiation for transportation services
  • Establish and utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that drive competitive costs and service, adding value for transportation

Warehouse Responsibilities:

  • Play a key leadership role in hiring and training the warehouse teams, establishing processes, drive continuous improvement, inventory, fulfillment, and ensure all equipment, tools, supplies, and technology is in place
  • Plan and manage daily operations schedules and deliverables including inbound receiving and put away, staffing and hours management, order picking and fulfillment, repairs, distribution logistics, and other management and administration duties
  • Ensure safety awareness, training, and policy compliance among all employees to prevent safety incidents and achieve company safety goals
  • Ensure service & product quality that meets or exceeds customer expectations
  • Manage facility and warehouse equipment maintenance and housekeeping
  • Provide and ensure proper forklift training and maintenance
  • Coach, train and ensure effective on the job training and development
  • Manage and administer hourly pay, correction action, attendance, recruiting, performance management, and policies consistent with company expectations, practices, and applicable regulations
  • Ensure inventory control and system data accuracy
  • Create an environment that encourages continuous improvement in all aspects of the operation
  • Develop, document and update standard operating procedures as needed
  • Participate in the development and management of the operations budget for the facility
  • Develop, measure, and monitor operational performance metrics

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years inventory control, supply chain, and shipping/receiving experience
  • 3+ years warehouse/logistics management; experience with continuous improvement methodologies preferred
  • 5+ years managing a team, including solid knowledge of employment law, ownership for people-related decisions (e.g. hiring, training, coaching, employee relations, corrective action, coaching)
  • Demonstrated experience leading or building a high performing team
  • Strong attention to detail; competence with managing metrics, data, and reporting; solid analytics, problem solving, and Excel skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Must be able to work in a warehouse environment, wear personal protective equipment, and occasionally life up to 35lbs
