General Responsibilities:
Manages and directs (as necessary) all activities on the waterfront area of Taylor's Point campus as well as the Keith Hartford Sailing Center.Responsible for the safe operation, safety equipment, operational equipment, maintenance, mooring, storage of all small training vessels and sailing vessels, and Marine Department.Anticipates the material and equipment needs for the vessels which he is responsible for and submits timely requests for same to the Vice President of Operations.Assists in undergraduate and DGCE programs as directed by the Vice President of Operations.May be assigned collateral duties appropriate to the area of his/her technical competence.Provides periodic support to the Yacht & Boat Donation Department.Responsible for planning and organizing the transportation, launching and hauling out of the water all equipment at the Keith Hartford Sailing Center to and from winter storage. This includes vessels, floats, moorings and associated equipment.Supervise marine safety aboard vessels and in shore-side marine facilities as a safety-sensitive employee, and will require participation in chemical testing program.May be assigned by the President a “sea duty” billet on annual and/or short training cruises, shipyard repair periods, when acquiring a vessel or at any other time a vessel is on loan or at the disposal of the Academy is required to be “at sea” or “in port” including sailing as an observer on another Maritime Academy's vessel.Acts as the “Designated Person Ashore” and “Company Security Officer” to the NSMV PATRIOT STATE.Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, or Associates degree AND military experience of Senior Chief (E8) or above.Current USCG Master 200 gross ton Near Coastal license.Experience in the navigation and maintenance of small ocean vessels.Experience with marine construction of docks, floats, fenders, pilings, etc. or transferable skill.Managerial experience.Preferred Qualifications:
Possess a USCG 3rd Mate Unlimited License with current STCW.A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development and/or the modeling of inclusive behaviors.Salary: $90,000-$100,000. The Academy offers generous benefits policies and a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is exempt under FLSA.
