SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:Reporting to the vice president, practice advancement, the director is an integral part of the leadership team responsible for the AAFP's efforts to support successful career journeys of family physicians and improve internal and external practice environments. The director leads a team within the division specifically focused on favorably impacting practice environments in ways that are beyond the influence and control of individual members.
Toward these goals, the team provides thought leadership and subject matter expertise spanning a broad range of payment, practice and related market-centric topics including but not limited to fee-for-service payment (Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, RUC, CPT, etc.), value-based payment (CMMI, HCP-LAN APM framework), quality improvement / performance measurement, data and health information technology, state-based transformation initiatives involving Medicaid and multi-payer alignment, as well as other market-based activities such as market consolidation and the influx of private equity.
In collaboration with the AAFP's DC-based government relations division, this team applies their individual and collective knowledge to support federal and state advocacy efforts. The market innovation team also actively engages with non-governmental stakeholders including private payers, large health care purchasers (employers/union trusts), data, health IT, and other technology vendors and other infrastructure organizations, quality improvement and performance measurement entities, and other private stakeholders as needed to achieve the AAFP's goals on behalf of its members.
Job Specific Skills:Bachelor's degree or knowledge acquired through equivalent work experience, plus a minimum of 10-15 years related work experience. (Master's degree preferred).
The successful candidate will possess a wide range of experiences and brings a strategic perspective and strong critical thinking skills to the role.
