Our diversified portfolio consists of hydroelectric, wind, solar, distributed energy and sustainable solutions across North America, South America, Europe and Asia, with over 30 GW of installed capacity and a development pipeline of more than 130 GW of renewable power assets.Brookfield Renewable is the flagship listed renewable power company of Brookfield Asset Management, a leading global alternative asset manager with approximately US$850 billion of assets under management.Job DescriptionThe Director, North America Markets & Commercial, will be a member of the Global Markets and Commercial Team, within the Global Development Team at Brookfield Renewable Power and Transition.Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Markets and Commercial, and working closely with Brookfield's Investment teams, Asset Management teams, Portfolio Company leadership as well as external consultants - the Director will lead market analysis in North America to provide critical commentary, market insight and projections to support investments and commercial initiatives in Renewable Power and other Low Carbon Transition projects.Specifically, the Director will be responsible for the following activities in support of Brookfield's investment decisions:
- Market Intelligence: Monitoring industy trends, policy developments, and price dynamics in target markets where Brookfield has existing or prospective interests
- Market Views: Developing in-house views on key power market drivers (gas, carbon, capacity mix, basis risks etc) and their impact on power price projections as well as benchmarking 3rd party views
- Due Diligence Support: Developing and building convicton around revenue projections for renewable asset portfolios and other low carbon project acquisition opportunities through a combination of in-house analysis and managing external consultants
- Revenue Optimization: Working with Brookfield's Asset Management teams and portfolio companies to evaluate market exposures, hedging opportunities and risk mitigation
- Cross-Project Learning: Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices across our portfolio of operating projects and projects under development, fostering a culture of improvement and innovation
Requirements
- Experience of leading analysis of competitive and regulated power markets or other energy and commodity markets
- Ability to think through market sizing, competitive dynamics, price evolution and risks, as well as explain key trends, business models and winning strategies
- Familiarity with power market modelling approaches
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to argue, summarize and illustrate analyses in a convincing, accessible format
- Excellent economic judgment and business sense
- Ability to prioritize and deliver in a multi-project, fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- University degree in a numerate discipline, ideally with graduate qualification in Economics, Business, Finance or equivalent
- We are looking for a dynamic individual who can think and work independently, communicate effectively with various 'client' groups across multiple locations, and who brings an inquisitive, problem-solving attitude to each task in hand
Salary: $160,000 - $190,000
