Purpose of Position
Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law welcomes applications for appointment to the position of Director of Academic Success and Bar Preparation with an anticipated start date of August 2025.
Founded in 1893, the Salmon P. Chase College of Law has for 130 years provided service to students and the legal community throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky and across the Ohio River to Cincinnati and throughout the region. Primary Responsibilities
This is a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure-track position, with an initial one-year appointment.
The Director's primary responsibility will be to work with students to help them develop the skills needed to reach their full academic potential for performance in law school and on the bar exam. Responsibilities will include a mix of the following: (1) designing and implementing academic support programs; (2) designing and assisting with the law school's bar exam preparation programs; (3) teaching the law school's bar preparation course; and (4) teaching the two-semester Legal Methods and Legal Studies courses for NKU Chase's first year students. The Director will also supervise the Assistant Director. Candidates must be willing to work some evenings, so as to be able to teach and provide academic support for students in the evening division.
Qualifications
This is a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure-track position, with an initial one-year appointment. Applicants must have a J.D., a strong academic record, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and excellent communication skills. Experience in a law school academic support program or other relevant teaching experience is preferred. Candidates should also have an understanding of the dynamics of diversity (including first-generation college graduates) in higher education and a demonstrated ability to incorporate this understanding, as appropriate, in all levels of their work.
