Job Description:
Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Director of Accounting and Reimbursement for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Healthcare clients in Aurora , IL. Responsibilities:
  • Direct the day-to-day financial operations of the hospital including all Accounting, General Ledger, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Third Party Reimbursement, and Treasury functions.
  • Coordinates year-end audit by Independent Auditors.
  • Develops and maintains adequate financial internal controls.
  • Ensures accounting functions are conducted in accordance with GAAP.
  • Ensures that all monthly financial reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Coordinates completion of balance sheet reconciliations for all firm entities on an annual basis.
  • Conducts annual review of goodwill assets for impairment.
  • Assures that new entity and physician acquisitions are booked according to GAAP.
  • Serves as liaison to external auditors.
  • Develops and maintains financial reports and systems to support hospital directors and managers.
  • Presents financial information to Senior Management, Board, Medical Staff, as required.
  • Coordinates and oversees all reporting requests.
  • Assists with preparation of annual corporate budgets.
  • Provides leadership and day to day director for General Accounting, Accounts Payable and Payroll.
  • Makes certain that all cash and investments are maintained with appropriate internal controls, policies, and records.
  • Responsible for making certain cash and investment results are consistent with desired corporate objectives.
  • Coordinates all cash receipt disbursements and application polices to ensure adherence to established policies.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining excellent relationships within the financial communities (Banks, Investment Brokers, Insurance Companies etc).
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of systems and procedures to optimize reimbursement from third party payers including Medicare, Medicaid Blue Cross and Managed Care companies.
  • Assists with potential reimbursement project reviews as necessary.
  • Coordinates and oversees monthly and annual bad debt and contractual allowance analyses.
  • Updates the Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement rates as directed.
  • Coordinates and oversees the completion of third party financial analysis as required.
  • Develops and maintains accounting policies and procedures to ensure that all financial statements, tax returns, responsibility reports, and other management reports that leave the department are professional and free from error or omission.
  • Develops and maintains detailed controls and procedures for the operation and use of all information system applications in use, including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, fixed asset management, time and attendance and interfaces (EDI) with vendors, banks and other institutions.
  • Plans and develops procedures to comply with all IRS and State Department of Finance tax reporting and payment guidelines to minimize tax liability and avoid penalties and interest
  • Periodically reviews financial systems and processes for potential upgrades or improvement.
  • Participates on hospital teams as requested.
  • Coaches and mentors staff on a daily basis; promotes growth and development of team members and removes obstacles in a timely manner.
  • Develops financial training material for classes for clinical staff.
  • Work with the Director of Finance for coordinate of accounting and reporting time lines and issues.
  • Other responsibilities as necessary
Required Skills:
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5 to 7 years of management experience.
  • CPA required.
  • Prefer previous experience in healthcare or healthcare consulting environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of information technology.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of Lawson General Ledger a plus.
  • MBA preferred
