Job Description:

The Director of Admissions holds a critical leadership role within the Admissions office. The admissions office is responsible for communicating with prospective students via multiple channels to ensure all questions and concerns about Excelsior College are met. The Director is responsible for creating an exceptional student experience and includes ensuring that coaching, training, developing, and motivating the team to achieve the service goals of the admissions office is taking place. Management responsibilities include the direction and development of the Associate Directors. The position requires a leader who is comfortable working in a very fast paced environment. The Director will ensure the admissions staff are working with processes that are efficient and effective, intuitively assisting prospective students throughout the admissions process. The Director should be an exceptional communicator and adept at engaging with a diverse team of colleagues, direct reports, and students. The Director is responsible for achieving key performance levels in the areas of student service, which include but are not limited to follow up, response rate, conversion of applications processed/completed, admissions and enrollment goals, melt and re-engagement of alumni and withdrawn students. The Director should have a working knowledge of online higher education and be a strong advocate for the service needs of non-traditional adult students. This is a full-time, hybrid role with a minimum of two days required per week at Excelsior's home office in Albany, NY, with the remainder of the days worked from home. Duties and Responsibilities Ensure a quality engagement experience for prospective students from the point of inquiry through enrollment Train, develop, mentor and coach staff to achieve high levels of service to prospective students Motivate direct reports through one-on-one and group meetings by using a team-building approach to leadership Handle escalated student calls and situations as needed Work closely with the Executive Director of Admissions to provide data insight and forecasts on new admissions and enrollments Work collaboratively with other areas of the college including Academic Affairs, Career Services, Financial Aid, and Strategic Partnerships to ensure the Admissions team is thoroughly trained and able to represent Excelsior College programs accurately and effectively Maintain a high level of industry knowledge in online higher education to be informed of best practices within the field Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge in systems used to service prospective and current students including CRM (Salesforce) and Student Information System Ensure that the Admissions team is aware of the financial aid process and able to communicate financing options available to assist students in degree completion. Consistently model strong conversational skills, training staff on developing rapport to ensure prospective students feel comfortable working through the admissions process Weekly and monthly reporting on team performance and achieving individual goals Job Requirements and Qualifications: Bachelor s Degree from regionally accredited College or University Minimum of two years experience leading teams in a fast-paced environment preferred Previous experience in online higher education preferred Experience and skill in coaching, training, and developing teams to high level of productivity A strong passion for and understanding of the unique needs of a non-traditional online learner Experience with and appreciation of diverse communities of direct-reports, colleagues, and students capable of engaging with and motivating individuals from a wide range of backgrounds Ability to work independently and interact effectively with all colleagues Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment The hiring salary range for this position is $73,000.00 - $78,000.00. The hiring salary range above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting
