Reports to the Superintendent. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)
Ensure that Adult Education programs are relevant, available and tailored for the communities that the districts serve. Oversee all Adult Education instructors and staff to include hiring, dismissal, observations/evaluations, and class assignments. Provide all Adult Education staff and instructors with staff development opportunities. Oversee the curriculum offered in all Adult Education Programs to ensure that the curriculum is appropriate and meets all requirements/guidelines/standards of the State Department of Education and the State Office of Adult Education. Attend all meetings as requested by the State Office of Adult Education, Lexington School District Two and Lexington School District Four. Manage Adult Education data and complete all reports as requested by the State Office of Adult Education, Lexington School District Two and Lexington School District Four. Prepare AE budgets and oversee all Adult Education accounts. Ensure that the community - citizens and businesses -are aware of the programming offered by Adult Education. Write grants and seek alternate funding sources for Adult Education. Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversee all adult education programs and oversee all employees in adult education. Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience: Masters Degree of Education in Curriculum & Instruction with emphasis in Adult & Community Instruction or Masters Degree in Education in Educational Administration. Experience in adult education desired but not required. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current South Carolina teaching certificate. Language Skills: Written and verbal language skills necessary to positively and effectively communicate/articulate to staff: expectations for staff, appropriate curriculum content for the adult student, and effective teaching strategies for the instruction of adult students. Ability to communicate/articulate student expectations to the adult education student. Ability to present information about adult education programming to the general public, the State Department of Education and the school districts. Ability to write policies, reports, and grants for adult education. Mathematical Skills: Ability to prepare adult education budgets and oversee adult education accounts. Reasoning Ability: Ability to analyze adult education enrollment trends and assessment data, and translate this information into effective adult education programming. Other Skills and Abilities: Be knowledgeable of current research and instructional practices in adult education and be able to write adult education policies, design adult education programming and write curriculum for the adult student based on this knowledge. Ability to seek out and write grants that will lead to additional funding for adult education. Ability to attend meetings as requested by the school districts and State Department of Education. Ability to submit reports as requested by the school districts and State Department of Education within the requested time frame. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students and members of the community. Ability to operate a personal computer. Physical Demands: The ability to travel to all adult education sites on a monthly basis is required. The ability to lift, unpack and organize adult education textbooks and supplies is required.
