Job Description:Director of Advising, Coaching and Transfer ServicesBARGAINING UNIT/NON-UNIT: Non-UnitANTICIPATED START DATE: Jan 1, 2025SALARY RANGE: $85,000-$95,000, commensurate with education and experience.OPTION TO TELEWORK: This position is eligible for remote work (1 day per week),per the Commonwealth's Telework PolicyGENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIESThe Director of Advising, Coaching, and Transfer (ACT) will lead the ACT office and all academic advising services, including transfer and career advising, staff development, program assessment for advising services, and student degree planning and advising/coaching technologies. Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success, the Director of Advising, Coaching, and Transfer is responsible for collaborating with and managing relationships across the college in departments such as Admission and Enrollment Services, Student Financial Services, Student Affairs, Registrar's Office, and Academic Affairs.EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Leadership and Management* Oversee the delivery of proactive advising/coaching services for all prospective and current students.* Provide strategic vision, aligning departmental goals with institutional strategic plans.* Ensure student records and departmental practices comply with local and federal policy and guidelines.* Engage with regional and national organizations for professional development.* Develop and implement campus-wide professional development opportunities for advisors.* Create communication plans for student advising and registration.* Establish and maintain a culture of support within the department. Provide staff with the tools necessary to effectively serve students at the college.* Direct the training and ongoing support for technology-enabled advising technologies, including DegreeWorks, Banner, and myGCC.* Collaborate with the Director of Institutional Research in ongoing assessment of the effectiveness of the department. Coordinate planning and evaluation activities and oversee reports, program reviews, and strategic planning, etc.* Oversee the advisor assignment process prescribed by College policy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.* Collaborate with academic leadership to ensure consistent advising practices campus-wide.Supervision* Supervise professional and administrative staff, including all full?and part-time academic advisors/SUCCESS coaches and academic coordinators in the Advising Center, as well as the transfer coordinator and administrative assistant.* Assist in the search process for new employees.* Clearly defines and evaluates performance expectations.* Communicate information to staff via multiple platforms; conduct weekly staff meetings.* Maintain staff schedules, requests for time off, and weekly timesheet approval.* Promote a positive work environment that encourages free exchange of ideas and empowers staff development.* Conduct timely annual performance evaluations per union contract.Fiscal Management and Contract Services* Prepare and monitor annual budgets for all departmental programs and activities.* Support campus grant activities, goals, and reporting requirements.* Supports the SUCCESS program management as needed.Other Duties* Participate in planning and implementing all matters pertaining to Advising and SUCCESS initiatives within the Enrollment Management & Student Success division.* Serve on the College Council, divisional meetings, and other committees, as assigned.* Develop, manage, and implement other related projects as necessary.* Work closely with the Dean of Students and other Student Services offices.Requirements:MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE*:* Master's degree in Education, Student Personnel, or Counseling, or a master's degree with five years of progressively more responsible work experience in academic advising, student retention, or student success programs, including staff development and evaluation in a college setting.* Three to five years of supervisory experience.* Experience using technology in the advising process, academic pathways, and student retention services.* Knowledge of student development theory and practice to improve student retention.* Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills; adaptable and flexiblePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:* Community college experience.* Experience integrating technology and alternative delivery systems of instruction in the teaching-learning-advising process.* Commitment to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the student experience.* Proficiency in Slate or an alternative CRM.* Adaptability and flexibility within a fast-paced environment.EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT:Applicants who do not meet the qualifications as noted above are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience required for the responsibilities of this position.Additional Information:This position may oversee academic intervention initiatives for student success and retention.Application Instructions:In order to be considered for this position, you must submit your credentials online.To apply, click on the Apply Now button.You will be prompted to set up a new account or login to an existing account.From there, you will be able to upload the following required documents for consideration:* Resume* Cover letterReferences will only be checked at the finalist stage.
