What We Do
Remote Work Welcome
Be part of a transformative team that is shaping the way First American builds and delivers world-class technology products that fuel the real estate industry. We are looking for the best technology experts who will envision, design, build, and deliver innovative solutions that provide exceptional experiences and lasting value to our customers.
As a Director of Analytics at First American, you will help shape the future of the experiences we build for our escrow officers, underwriters, title agents, and agency partners. You will craft strategy and operationalize via your leadership, project management, analytical and technical skills, creativity, and product intuition to one of the largest title insurance data sets in the world.
You will work directly in partnership with product and engineering leadership to design and operationalize a strategy that will empower the organization with data-driven insights, data analytics solutions, and corporate reporting functions to ensure the business divisions have the data needed to manage their business better.
Along with a small team you lead, you will dig into the data to uncover new insights, identify opportunities and actions for product improvements and new product development, determine product metrics with goals, design experiments, and promote customer experience, engagement, and growth of First American's core products.
As the Director of Analytics, you will establish the data analytics roadmap for the product team and implement projects in data analytics, data science, and product insights. You will also use data to influence product strategy and investment decisions, focus on impact, and act as the data leader for a high-performing product team.
What You'll Do:
- Define, execute, and support strategies for advancing analytics in support of product development and business intelligence activities. Identify corporate and client needs as well as product validation opportunities driven by analytics. Act as an analytical expert to recommend and develop innovative analytic solutions. Collaborate with product, technology, analytical, sales, and enterprise teams.
- Manage Analytics Roadmap and Team: Direct analytical roadmap activities and prioritization. Attract, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of Data Analysts in modeling and analysis and ensure their work aligns with the company goals and objectives.
- Data and Analytics thought leadership: You will use data to understand the product and business ecosystem, quantify new opportunities, identify upcoming challenges, and shape product development to bring value to users, business divisions, and First American. You will develop strategy and partner with Product leadership to prioritize what to build and set goals for execution.
- Product Analytics: You will guide product teams using data and insights. You will focus on developing hypotheses and employ a diverse toolkit of rigorous analytical approaches, different methodologies, frameworks, and technical approaches to test them. Additionally, you will work with corporate reporting teams to ensure business division reports are maintained and enhanced as the suite of products is rolled out.
- Communication and Influence: You will not simply present data but tell data-driven stories. You will convince and influence leaders using clear insights and recommendations. You will build credibility through structure and clarity and be a trusted strategic partner.
What You'll Bring:
- Ability to communicate findings clearly and concisely in written and verbal presentations and translate analytical solutions into product recommendations and features.
- Ability to define and execute a vision for analytics for both internal and client-facing applications, and drive analytics projects end-to-end in partnership with Product, Design, Product Marketing, Engineering, and cross-functional business division teams to inform, influence, support, and execute product strategy and investment decisions.
- Develop and execute analytics vision, strategy, roadmap, and solutions to identify opportunities for product improvements and new product features, improve and forecast growth, and improve product use and customer experience.
- Design metrics and KPI definitions with goals for different product areas, report, and communicate insights around product success to partners and the senior management team.
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of advanced analytics and data science models and algorithms to extract valuable insights from large and complex datasets. Solve a wide array of challenging problems using different analytical and statistical approaches.
- Lead data exploration, hypothesis testing, and statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and correlations for business optimization.
- Serve as a thought partner for product and engineering leaders and influence the product insights roadmap and strategy by identifying opportunities through deep-dive analyses and/or modeling.
- Partner closely with internal data engineering teams to improve data assets, quality, metrics, and insights and proactively identify opportunity areas for deep dive investigations and future program development. Analyze and validate data to ensure high data quality and reliable insights.
- Contribute towards advancing the Data Analytics and Data Science discipline, including but not limited to driving data best practices (e.g. analysis, goaling, experimentation), improving analytical processes, scaling data knowledge and tools, and mentoring team members.
- Demonstrated experience working autonomously with minimal direction and track record of strong multi-disciplinary collaboration.
Ideally, you will also have experience with:
- 10+ years of experience working with data, including data mining, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling, and experience leading data-driven initiatives and teams.
- 2+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing individual contributors and/or managers, and owning and driving data roadmap strategy and execution for a product-led organization.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g., Python, SQL, Power BI, Snowflake, Looker) and data visualization techniques.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to transform complex data into actionable insights.
- Experience ensuring data quality, integrity, and adherence to governance and security best practices.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams such as Product, Product Marketing, Engineering, and Design.
