DescriptionJob SummaryProvides fundraising leadership to maximize annual giving and sponsorships through private support for WVU Medicine Children's. The Director of Annual Giving and Sponsorships is responsible for establishing and providing oversight of annual giving and sponsorships related to WVU Medicine Children's. This role requires expertise in negotiating a highly complex environment requiring interaction with development directors, leadership and members of the WVU Children's, Health Sciences and Foundation development teams as well as a high-level of acumen in communicating with individual donors and corporate partnersAs an integral part of the Children's development team, the director for annual giving and sponsorship's primary duty is to maximize annual gift and sponsorship support ($1,000 to $50,000) by cultivating, soliciting and providing stewardship for gifts from friends, grateful patients, corporations and foundation.Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Organize, implement, and direct a comprehensive annual giving fundraising program which represents the needs of WVU Medicine Children's and creates a positive image relative to the mission and vision. Lead the organization and coordination of Day of Giving on behalf of the Children's Development team.Oversight and management of a comprehensive sponsorship program in support of Children's annual galas and special events. Management includes creation of pricing structure in coordination with Director of Special events; sponsorship solicitation timeline; creation of sponsorship packages; and direct solicitation and required follow-up with prospective sponsors.Strategically develop prospect lists, timelines, and the implementation of solicitation strategies and programs for all levels of annual giving and sponsors, while increasing annual donor support, recruiting new donors and retaining existing donors. Identify, qualify and steward annual giving leadership gift prospects ($10,000 and up). Responsible for the development of all communication materials appropriate for successful execution of program.Provide input in the design and composition as well as direct programs for Children's faculty/staff. Design, compose and edit all fundraising literature associated with the annual campaign related to WVU Medicine Children's. Direct and organize Children's volunteers as part of the campaign.Recruit, train, and work with annual giving leadership volunteers from faculty/staff, donor pools and patient families. Participate in the Children's Philanthropy Council.Maintain training, knowledge and use of WVU Foundation programs to determine the donor history, profile and other socio-demographic data to move constituent prospects toward annual leadership and major gifts. Study national and regional trends in annual giving fundraising using data available from various published sources to determine program development and best practices.Proficiency in management of data and supporting materials necessary for planning, analysis, and implementation, including financial reports, prospect tracking information, program performance and feasibility of projects and fundraising. Financial responsibilities include developing an annual giving fundraising budget and initiate recommendations encompassing marketing, solicitation, gift attainment, and stewardship of philanthropic gifts.
