POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the President and serving on the President's Executive Council, serves as the chief administrator responsible for articulation and implementation of the mission of the intercollegiate athletic program and all associated areas. Fosters a culture of academic excellence, compliance and inclusion. Performs all essential functions either personally or in coordination with appropriate College or Athletic Department Personnel (to include the Assistant Athletic Director(s), Sport Specific Coaches, Director of Sports Communications, Athletic Trainers and Office Coordinator)

Essential Functions Statement(s)
Develops, directs, and evaluates all components of a comprehensive intercollegiate athletics program and recreational/club sport activities.
Coordinates teaching assignments and related administrative activities for the Kinesiology Department with approval from the Chair of Kinesiology.
Recruits, hires, develops, supervise/manages and evaluates coaching, athletic training and administrative staff. Performs these functions in accordance with federal and or state regulations, departmental, divisional and or college policy.
Develops and administers the assigned yearly budget, ensuring that allocations reflect department philosophy and priorities. Provides input for annual budget process.
Provides development, strategy, implementation, evaluation and supervision of ongoing and new athletic programs designed to maintain, encourage and increase participation. Maintains curiosity, involvement and research to recognize and stay abreast of new and emerging trends in athletic programs and individual sports.
Serves as the primary representative to the NCAA and SCAC as required by each entity to ensure full compliance with stated policy, protocol, philosophy, and related guidelines. Complies with all deadlines for requested/required reports and related data and information.
Leads fundraising initiatives in collaboration with the Institutional Advancement Division.
Advises, coordinates and supports the Austin College Athletic (“A”) Alumni Association, to include specific annual events.
Plans and directs annual strategic departmental planning.
Oversees development, implementation and evaluation of recruiting strategies specific to each sport. Works in conjunction with the Admissions staff to ensure alignment with prospective student recruitment and selection criteria.
Develops, fosters and maintains relationships with college and external constituencies (student-athletes, parents, alumni, community members, faculty and staff).
Oversees all sports facilities and equipment to identify routine, preventative or capital maintenance and equipment needs. Works closely with Physical Plant to accomplish maintenance requirements or facility projects.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: (The minimum knowledge, licenses, certifications, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to perform the essential functions of the job at a fully acceptable level.)
Knowledge (Education, Experience, Training)
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in physical education, Kinesiology or related field. Seven years of progressive experience in collegiate athletic administration, including expertise in compliance, budgeting, scheduling, personnel supervision, and facility management. Knowledge of and full compliance with requirements of Austin College academic programs and eligibility standards. Knowledge of and full compliance with policies and procedures of Austin College, the Athletic Department, as well as the requirements and standards of NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference athletic governing bodies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a related field. Experience as an Athletic Director at the NCAA DIII level or collegiate head coach and a demonstrated ability to lead a team. Strategic planning capabilities.
