Description
The Director of Auxiliary Services is a key position responsible for managing and overseeing a variety of non-academic services that support the daily operations of a large higher education institution. This role ensures the efficient functioning of auxiliary services such as campus dining, bookstores, vending, printing, copy services, mail room, and other revenue-generating operations. The Director will work closely with various stakeholders, both internal and external, including vendors, students, faculty, and staff from Accounting Services, Contracts, the School of Medicine, School of Allied Health Professions, and the School of Graduate Studies. This position will be expected to demonstrate initiative and professional expertise in exercising the duties and functions assigned and must be prepared to meet those assigned responsibilities with limited supervision. The Direct works with the Project Coordinator of Auxiliary Services and maintains numerous complex spreadsheets and databases related to the financial transactions of each of the Auxiliary Services departments and works closely with various accounting departments in the institution.
This position requires ability to plan strategically and think critically to maximize revenue along with knowledge of accounting principles and financial practices. This incumbent will perform many duties that include, but are not limited to, processing financial transactions, submitting and reviewing work orders, payroll and communications for all Auxiliary Services departments. Must have strong financial acumen with experience managing large budgets, forecasting, and financial analysis. Proven experience in contract negotiation, vendor management, and service delivery oversight. The incumbent must possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong employee motivation, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills will be necessary. Additional responsibilities will include attending meetings, assisting in document creation, review and preparation, personnel selection, onboarding and training, oversight of Auxiliary Services department functions, developing strategies for new and existing opportunities within the Auxiliary Services departments, and any other duties that may be assigned by the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Budget.
Regular attendance is required for this on-site position. Work hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm weekdays but may be adjusted to meet the needs of the department. Overtime may be required. Lunch and breaks are dictated by workflow.

* Provide leadership and strategic direction for all auxiliary service operations, including but not limited to campus dining, bookstores, printing, mail room, and vending services.
* Develop, implement, and manage long-term plans to enhance service delivery, revenue generation, and operational efficiency across all auxiliary units.
* Collaborate with university leadership and key stakeholders to assess and meet the service needs of students, faculty, and staff.
* Oversee the financial performance of auxiliary units, ensuring revenue targets are met while maintaining cost-effective operations. This includes managing budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting.
* Lead contract negotiations with vendors and service providers, ensuring high service standards, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with institutional policies.
* Foster a customer-focused culture within all auxiliary units, ensuring that services provided enhance the overall campus experience for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant university policies, local and state regulations, and any applicable accreditation requirements.
* Lead and mentor a diverse team of managers and staff, promoting a culture of professional development, collaboration, and excellence.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including vendors, service providers, and regulatory agencies, representing the university in a professional and ethical manner.
* Continuously evaluate and improve the quality of auxiliary services, leveraging data and customer feedback to drive innovation and enhance the campus experience.

Qualifications
Applicant must meet the following qualifications:
* Master's degree from an accredited university plus five (5) years of professional experience, OR Bachelor's degree from accredited university with at least eight (8) years professional experience.
* Progressively responsible experience in auxiliary services management, facilities management, or a related field.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of customer service.
* Experience in Microsoft Office programs, 10 key, knowledge of accounting principles and financial practices.
Preferred Qualifications
* Degree in business, accounting, hospitality management, or public administration related field.
* Experience working within a higher education institution that includes healthcare-related programs or facilities.
* Certified Auxiliary Services Professional (CASP) certification.
