Position SummaryThe Director of Billing and Collections oversees our billing department and optimizes revenue cycle management for our EMS services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare billing, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to maximizing collections while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize the EMS billing process and improve collections efficiency.
- Lead and mentor the billing and collections team, providing guidance and support to meet departmental goals.
- Monitor billing activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and Medicare/Medicaid guidelines.
- Analyze billing data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvements and revenue enhancement.
- Collaborate with EMS leadership, including operations and clinical teams, to streamline billing workflows and resolve billing-related issues.
- Establish and maintain relationships with payers, including insurance companies and government agencies, to facilitate claims processing and resolve disputes.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations on billing and collections performance for senior management.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field; master's degree preferred.
- Experience in healthcare billing and collections management, preferably in an EMS or ambulance service setting.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare billing regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid guidelines.
- Proven leadership abilities with experience managing and developing a team.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex billing data and trends.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in healthcare billing software and other office software, such as RescueNet, Waystar, Crystal Reports, Payspan, Five9, and Microsoft Office
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with Big Four (public) accounting
- Master's Degree or MBA
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license
