Job Description Director of Biological Services Location: Northern California (Berkeley, Sacramento, or San Jose Offices) We are seeking a motivated and experienced Director of Biological Services to join our planning and environmental sciences team, serving Northern California. This role supports a hybrid work environment, with in-person commitments for training, mentorship, business development, and client meetings. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a cross-discipline team in biological field surveys, assessments, and technical analysis.
- Oversee project management, ensuring high-quality work products, budget adherence, and timeline management.
- Manage client relationships, represent clients at public hearings, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and review biological reports, habitat assessments, and sensitive species surveys.
- Lead biological assessments for CEQA/NEPA, wetland delineations, and other biological documents.
- Drive business development by identifying new opportunities, developing proposals, and maintaining client relationships.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Botany, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Extensive experience in environmental consulting and natural resource management.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks (CESA, ESA, CEQA, NEPA) and familiarity with California's ecosystems and wildlife species.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage scopes, budgets, and schedules.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and technical writing skills.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and ArcGIS (preferred).
