Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Two years experience as a Building Service Director.
  • Two years of technical experience, (electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting) and first-hand experience.
  • Knowledge of Generators, boilers, oxygen safety and storage, and fire safety, certifications preferred,
  • Reports To:

    Administrator

    Job Summary

    Building Service Director is responsible for managing the company's maintenance and housekeeping department, which includes directing and overseeing all aspects of building services. It is their responsibility to set goals, create strategies, and design objectives for everyone in the department to accomplish the facilities objectives. Building Service Director to ensure that facility is clean and all equipment is in good repair and working order.

    Specific Requirements

    Working knowledge of state and federal regulations.

    Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English Language.

    Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.

    Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents and family members.

    Must possess the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.

    Must possess patient, tact and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents, if necessary.

    Demonstrates commitment to continuing professional development.

    Ability to recognize and later describe persons associated with nursing homes' safety and security.

    Working Conditions

    Works in office areas as well as throughout the nursing service area (i.e., medication, resident's rooms, etc.)

    Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.

    Is subject to frequent interruptions.

    Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies, under all conditions/circumstances.

    Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel and visitors.

    Communicates with medical staff, nursing personnel.

    Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends, holidays when necessary.

    Is subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc. throughout the workday.

    Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, including AIDS and Hepatitis B Viruses.

    Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or without the aid of mechanical devices.)

    Must be able to cope with the mental stress and emotional stress of the position.

    Must be able to hear and see or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function.

    Must be in general good health.

    Must be able to lift, pull, push and move a minimum of fifty pounds.

    Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
