Mile Two is looking for its next Director of Business Development to develop and implement strategic plans to win work to achieve company revenue and experience goals. This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Mile Two. This position will report to Mile Two's President. The Director of Business Development will:
- Develop and implement strategic plans to expand Mile Two's presence in the DOD government contracting sector and win work to achieve company revenue and experience goals.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including contract acquisitions and partnerships.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, prime contractors, and industry partners.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and the competitive landscape to inform business strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of contracts and projects.
- Prepare and conduct capability presentations for potential clients.
- Work with staff to ensure successful preparation and submission of Federal and non-Federal contract proposals.
- Work with Project Management staff in developing past performance narratives for use in proposals.
- Stay current on Federal government contracting laws, policies and procedures as relevant to developing business for Mile Two.
- Maintain an understanding of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) as it pertains to pursuit, award and performance of federal contracts.
- Assist in developing annual marketing budget for travel, conference attendance and other expenses related to business development and new sales.
- Orchestrate the overall customer experience, from ensuring customer satisfaction during and after the sale through the execution of all program and product delivery.
- Identify, validate, and monitor customer funding budgets and working customer procurement opportunities through all phases of the buying process to contract award.
- Develop and execute a detailed account plan to achieve sales objectives; developing and forecasting monthly, quarterly and annual sales; projecting expected sales volume and profit Implementing sales action plans that achieve market growth and expansion.
- Determine annual unit sale plans by implementing marketing strategies and analyzing trends and results and recommending selling prices by monitoring competition and supply and demand.
- Maintain sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
- Participate in trade shows and other events.
- Prepare and present reports on business development activities and progress including the tracking of opportunities in Hubspot.
- Represent Mile Two with integrity and professionalism.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field and minimum of 16 years of experience in business development, with a focus on DOD government contracting OR a Masters degree with 14 years of experience.
- Proven track record of successfully winning and managing government contracts
- Strong knowledge of the DOD acquisition process and regulations
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to lead and motivate a team
- Active security clearance
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must possess problem-solving skills.
- Excellent strategic planning abilities, with a focus on identifying opportunities.
- Ability to identify and engage teaming partners and key subcontractors.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, teammates, and internal Mile Two stakeholders.
- Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.

- Travel is expected and may vary from month to month, with an average of 25-35% travel time.
