Job Description:

The Director of Business Development is a highly self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and thoughtful professional who will lead a three-pronged team of Branding, Sales (new sales), and Client Accounts (existing client sales). The Director of Business Development will thoughtfully build this team with high attention to structure, processes, accountability, and monthly KPIs to ensure we continue to cultivate strong client relationships and grow the business. This role will report directly to the CEO, focusing on revenue forecasting, strategic planning, and real time assessments and pivoting when needed. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the operational, financial, and strategic analysis of new and existing business opportunities. The right candidate will have 10+ years of sales, sales administration, and people management experience, 10+ years of branding and marketing agency experience as well as strong organizational skills, a deep understanding of the operations and sales cycle, and superb business management skills.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Develop and lead a three-pronged team comprising ASG Branding, Sales (new sales), and Client Accounts (existing sales)
  • Establish a strong professional culture within the Business Development department focused on accountability, specific goals, innovation, and sense of purpose
  • Develop and implement lead generation and client service programs while systemically approaching the identification and follow-up of new and existing business opportunities that align with ASG values
  • Develop sales plans and forecasts to achieve or exceed sales goals
  • Review sales contracts to ensure legality and ASG best interest
  • Oversee all active accounts and project monitoring, ensuring business profitability and client satisfaction and long-lasting relationships with clients.
  • Oversee the Sales and Client Account Teams to ensure the Requests for Proposals align with the offerings and capabilities of ASG, work closely with teams to ensure KPIs.
  • Work closely with Client Services Delivery Teams to ensure client expectations are met and help support those teams in achieving shared goals.
  • Monitor market research and utilize Business Intelligence to help adjust ASGs sales, marketing, and branding strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions
  • Guide the preparation and development of KPIs & sales activity reports informing data-driven decisions
  • Create and strengthen partnerships with community organizations and local groups
  • Design appropriate and related trainings and workshops to strengthen the capabilities and knowledge of the Business Development team
  • Provide insightful revenue analytics/trends around the ASGs key revenue metrics (industry, size, pricing, relationships, etc.)
  • Assist in the development of the annual budgets and business plan, and monthly reporting
  • Proactively identify and manage initiatives and tools to improve company profitability and cash flows
  • Work with the leadership team in determining productivity targets, tracking productivity, and capacity planning
  • Handle confidential client and company financial information with the highest degree of maturity and professionalism
  • Oversee the administration and effective utilization of the Companys CRM system and prepare weekly sales reports for the CEO and leadership team
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to contribute effectively to the overall success of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field (Masters preferred).
  • 10+ years of sales and/or sales administration experience, continuously growing company revenue year over year
  • 7+ years of people management experience, successfully growing and developing teams
  • 5+ years branding and marketing experience
  • Access to the internet is required
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, especially during quarter end, as required
  • Ability to attend in person client meetings upon request and need, in addition to all mandatory ASG onsite events.
  • Understanding of the Marketing and Communications industry is a must
  • Advanced experience with technologies and Business Development best practices across multiple platforms including Salesforce, Government Bidding Portals, Microsoft Office, and internal project management software
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.
  • Excitement for working with a multicultural and multilingual company

  • Strong organizational skills to both manage the sales pipeline with competing deadlines and monitor sales pipeline growth and project health
  • Demonstrated ability and excitement to form meaningful and respectful relationships with diverse groups of people - internally and with Clients and Partners (including subcontractors, community based organizations, influencers, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including public speaking
  • Must possess the ability to think creatively and strategically while adapting to a changing environment and handling multiple priorities
  • Must be able to work independently without intensive supervision and be self-motivated
  • Ability to navigate, mobilize and understand the cultural nuances of diverse communities
  • Commitment to creating awareness around equity, and inclusion

  • Base Salary: $130,000-$145,000 commensurate with experience.
