  • Identify and research potential clients within Marker's key markets.
  • Develop a robust prospecting pipeline, focusing on high-potential leads in targeted industries or geographies.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with potential clients, positioning Marker as a trusted advisor in construction services.
  • Lead initial client outreach and support relationship-building efforts through personal meetings, group meetings, industry events, and follow-ups.
  • Work with project teams and executives to identify opportunities for expanding services with current clients based on evolving needs.
  • Work with the Marketing Department to create targeted campaigns that effectively communicate Marker's capabilities to both prospective and existing clients.
  • Engage in public relations activities, including press releases and trade publication features, to promote Marker's projects and industry expertise.
  • Work with the Proposal Manager, Marketing Team, Preconstruction Team, and Operations Team to develop compelling qualifications and proposal packages that address client needs.
  • Support contract negotiations as needed, ensuring that agreements align with both client expectations and Marker's business goals.
  • Oversee qualifications and proposals to ensure accuracy, strategic alignment, and competitive positioning.
  • Collaborate with Project Executives to implement client retention strategies, ensuring that the project team is delivering a high-quality experience.
  • Actively participate in local and regional industry organizations (e.g., ABC, BX, SMPS, chambers, economic development groups) to build visibility and network with potential and existing clients.
  • Network with architects, engineers, economic development groups, chambers, and other influencers to build relationships and learn about potential opportunities.
  • Regularly report to the Leadership Team on business development activities, including lead generation, pipeline progression, client retention efforts, and conversion rates.
  • Lead and maintain a CRM system that documents client information, correspondence, next steps, and any feedback, ensuring a well-organized business development and retention process.

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in business development, sales, or marketing within the construction industry, including complex public and private sector projects.
  • Experience with preconstruction, estimating, client negotiations, and client retention strategies.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to lead client-facing meetings and work collaboratively with Project Executives.
  • Proficiency in CRM software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including some weekends as required.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, construction management, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
