Summary / Objective

The Director of Business Development East will report to the VP of Sales and is responsible for closing new business opportunities and growing revenue, cultivating new accounts, converting competitive business, and expanding the brand in the specified region (East - which encompasses New England to Florida). The candidate will be responsible for guiding and nurturing our manufacturers' representatives as well as supporting their needs to make them successful. You'll work closely with inside sales and project engineering to address leads, route proposals, and grow your region. You will become a brand evangelist and product expert who can support the dealers and products from 360 degrees, including specification and design, deployment, installation, and programming. You will host dealer trainings online, at HQ, as well as in field. Your ability to memorize specs, present, and answer technical questions will be put to the test daily. With literally hundreds of leads waiting for you to contact them, your ability to be organized, multi-task, and follow-up follow through will define whether this role is a fit for the candidate. You must be able to communicate and work with C Suite execs, high net worth individuals, designers, architects, and builders. Travel for this role is 50-75% to be successful, with support at trade shows and industry events required. While this is a remote opportunity, the candidate must reside in one of their markets near a major airport (no exceptions). Relocation is not being offered.

Pre-Requisite Experience to Be Considered for This Position

We know the recipe for success and are seeking a candidate with relatable experiences. This is a senior level sales and account manager position and candidate must possess a minimum of 10 years direct sales experience including managing territories and manufacturers rep firms in the CEDIA and/or AVIXA channels.

Candidate should have commensurate years of experience attending and participating at buying group functions (ProSource, Azione, HTSA, etc), with demonstrated track record of making those dealers successful. A current track record of 1:1 selling and account management of custom installers / integrators is mandatory; this is NOT a distributor support or delegation of account responsibility role. Ability to read blueprints and knowledge of construction, electrical, audio video distribution systems, networking, and control automation system platforms required. Video Wall experience desired, but not required.

A Day in the Life – Responsibilities:

  • You will plan and re-plan your sales activities to constantly focus on achieving revenue goals and new dealer development targets
  • You will support manufacturer's reps needs including joint dealer calls and visits, product specification, remote presentations and trainings
  • You will be responsible for managing rep firms' performance against goals, host monthly MBO review calls, generate lead lists, and manage dealer/territory relationships
  • You will take inbound dealer calls, answer technical questions, along with make outbound calls to leads and consumers
  • With your teammates, you will interact with project managers to schedule installations, check production status, and ensure what you told and sold, is delivered
  • The candidate must be detail oriented with ability to think and adapt on the fly based upon company policies and guidance from management
  • Communicate daily and weekly with the leadership team to feedback results, wins, and accomplishments
  • Help refine plans, processes, and objectives as needed
  • Professionalism is a requirement in all aspects of the role including both verbal and email communication
  • Maintains records and produces reports on all phases of activities and performs other tasks as required
  • Understand, support and execute all work according to the established procedures of the organization including CRM
  • Develop and present for approval quarterly travel plans with objectives for the region
  • Effectively plan trips and travel with optimal routing to stay within budgets
  • This business will be dynamic, and situations may vary widely during the startup phase, duties are subject to change

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or GED) with some post-secondary education or equivalent, along with relevant experience
  • Certified Technology Specialist-CTS or equivalent desired
  • Valid US driver's license with clean driving history and ability to rent cars on remote trips
  • Ability to travel to U.S. and Canada
  • Thorough knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Mac and PC literate
  • Understanding of A/V, electrical, and mechanical drawings
  • Strong understanding of IT/Networking/AV
  • Ability to design video distribution systems with audio de-embed

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

As outside sales, this is a full-time exempt position. You will be working across multiple time zones, and this position frequently requires early/late hours and potential weekend work as job duties demand. Travel is a minimum of 50% (2 weeks a month) to be successful in this role.

Salary commensurate with experience, plus incentive commission plan which is uncapped. Accelerators included. Full benefits package available including company provided life insurance and matching 401K.
