Job Summary:
The Director of Business Operations for the College of Arts & Sciences is a pivotal member of the senior leadership team, serving as the strategic advisor in all financial matters. The Director is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day financial, administrative, and operational functions within the college. This position is pivotal in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the college's business operations, supporting the College in achieving strategic goals, and maintaining a high level of fiscal accountability and compliance with institutional policies. The College invites applications and nominations of energetic and visionary individuals for the position of Director of Business Operations. This 12-month appointment is administratively responsible to the Dean and is in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
The Director of Business Operations provides oversight and leadership for the college's accounting operations and team, financial reporting, and budget management, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university statutes, regulations, policies and rules using prudent fiscal controls. Additionally, this position collaborates with the college research office to develop best financial practices regarding restricted funding, external awards, and other related items. This person must be readily available for in-person meetings and collaborations in Stillwater, OK.
This role is central to ensuring that the College of Arts and Sciences operates efficiently and effectively, contributing to the broader goals of the institution. The Director of Business Operations will play a critical role in supporting the college's faculty, staff, and leadership by providing essential business services and operational expertise.

This position is in Stillwater, Oklahoma, on the campus of Oklahoma State University. Education:
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related degree.
* Ten years of financial or other related experience in business operations, financial management, or administrative leadership in an academic or research-intensive environment.
* Actively involved and responsible for fiscal operations, oversees the college's budget and operational accounts, and directs personnel decisions within a college/division.
* Demonstration of progressive leadership.
* Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial planning, and reporting in higher education or similar institutions.
* Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data in a clear and understandable manner.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
* A master's degree in accounting, business, economics or closely related field.
* Seven years or more of senior financial management experience in a large, R-1 university setting.
* Knowledge of research grant management and compliance.
* Proficiency with financial management software and enterprise systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft).
* Experience working with faculty and academic departments in a business operations context.
