This person will supervise our summer Camper Care team and liaise with the counselor, health center and office teams. During the year this person will conduct camper care screenings, coordinating with families, schools, therapists, and other care providers to develop individual support plans for camper success during the summer.Year-Round (Remote or at our Philadelphia or Putnam Valley offices) [This list will be scaled based on the part-time commitment / availability of the successful applicant].Cultivate and maintain relationships with camp families that are rooted in excellent communication, trust, and partnershipManage camper intake, reviewing registration forms and building relationships within the Eden Village community, including recruitment for and supervision of the Kruvim Inclusion programIn collaboration with camp staff, families, and other necessary parties, work before summer to create plans to support individual camper needs during the camp seasonRecruit, train and supervise the summer Camper Care teamCollaborate on the visioning and design process for the Camper Care and Wellness track of our pre-camp staff orientation and facilitate key training sessions for staffManage the camper profile process, including reviewing camper forms and summarizing key information for summer staffSummer (In residence at Eden Village Camp June to August)Supervise and empower summer Camper Care teamManage summer Camper Care team as they support counselors and campers with a variety of issues related to social, emotional, and mental health, safety and well-being including but not limited to anxiety, behavior management, interpersonal disputes, homesickness, hygiene, and diagnosed disordersServe as the lead professional in determining appropriate responses to the more significant camper and staff mental health and safety issues that ariseServe in residence as one of the camp social workers for 8 weeks of summer campManage camper care team and Kruvim program counselor schedulesProvide ongoing support and training to staff throughout the summer to respond to campers behavioral, emotional, and mental health needsCommunicate and partner regularly with parents to share camp updates and seek advice and perspective that will help our staff best support the physical, mental, social, and emotional health of our campersGeneral Organization Expectations and Responsibilities [All Eden Village Camp staff]Maintain active and warm correspondence with parents and camper families during the summer and throughout the yearExude the warmth of Eden Village Camp to campers, parents, and staff alike at all timesMake Eden Village Camp a warm and inviting place to beEden Village Camp has a dynamic year-round staff that supports each other to collectively prepare for and run camp each summer. This position requires flexibility, a willingness to learn new skills and take on responsibilities outside the Director of Community Care immediate job description when needed.Qualified candidates will demonstrate most of the following: Passionate about our mission; desire to grow an organization rooted in camp's valuesPeople skills to establish strong relationships with parents, campers, and staff, foster community and a sense of shared purpose and meaning, and create and maintain collaborative relationships with community partnersPossess excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfort in communicating with children, young adults and parentsStrong writing and editing skills; able to produce high quality written materials and communication in the voice of Eden Village, and proofread and edit the written copy of other team membersExperience with children, teenagers, and adult mental, social, and emotional healthAttention to detail in documentation and maintaining recordsProven ability to effectively train, lead and manage staffA track record of sound judgment and effective problem solving in a fast-paced environmentWillingness to take on additional roles and responsibilities to accomplish a goalDesire and capacity to cultivate a pluralistic, inclusive and kind Jewish communityDesire to grow together with the organization over timeKind, enthusiastic, excited to try new things, generous, willing to be silly, flexible, creative, caring, and able to maintain a positive team attitude throughout a full work dayRequirements 5+ years of professional experience (Eden Village is committed to valuing and supporting all types of labor. Applicants who have spent time outside of the professional workforce as full-time caregivers are encouraged to apply even if they don't meet this requirement).Previous experiences in a camp, school or similar environment is preferredPosition is remote during the non-summer season , or at one of our year-round offices in Philadelphia or Putnam Valley, NY.This position must be in residence at Camp in Putnam Valley, NY throughout our summer season (early June - late August)This position is part-time in the non-summer months (8-60 hours/month) and full-time during the summer season. The part-time commitment during the non-summer months is very flexible and will be dependent on the scheduling needs of the person hired for the role. Only full-time commitment during the summer season is required.Year-round schedule is flexible based on your availability: during business hours, weeknights, and/or weekends. Weekly work hours expectations scale up and down with the season.During the summer season, staff work 6 days per week.The salary offered will be commensurate with our professional staff salary scale. Salary will be based on experience and part-time availability. Salary estimates will be shared during the hiring process with prospective candidates.Salary will be adjusted according to our professional staff salary scale for those whose professional experience greatly exceeds the posted requirements.
