The State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz invites applications for the role of Director of the Career Resource Center. This is a full-time, 12-month, Appendix-A position (see the SUNY Board of Trustees Policies). The Director of the Career Resource Center provides leadership and direction for a comprehensive career planning office with a mission to support the college's students and alumni as well as the career planning and executing process by providing resources and opportunities for networking with employers and alumni, experiential education, career exploration, and increased self-awareness.

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:

* Personnel management, budgeting, program planning, and career advising/counseling

* Lead office in strategic planning using data to establish short and long-term goals for all stakeholders.

* Encourage and plan professional development activities.

* Supervise 6 professional staff and 2 administrative support staff.

* Identify student needs for information and advising on career planning, employment, graduate schools, and scholarships.

* Work collaboratively with Career Resource Center staff and campus partners to create programs, services, and resources to meet students', alumni, and employers' career related needs.

* Work in tandem with campus partners to develop and implement diversity programming.

* Oversee the Career Resource Center's website ensuring up-to-date information and resources.

* Prepare and present the annual report to the Student Affairs division.

* Possess a high level of technical proficiency (e.g., Handshake, Terminalfour, Qualtrics, Wufoo, Emma)

* Maintain membership and active involvement in professional organizations.

* Complete annual performance reviews.

Advising/Counseling/Programming

* Advise/counsel students on an individual and group basis regarding career planning and employment issues.

* Administer and interpret career related assessments.

* Develop and deliver workshops and career-related programs.

* Familiar with career counseling/advising theory and techniques and the principles of college student development.

Campus and Community Outreach

* Represent SUNY New Paltz in various professional organizations and address a wide range of constituencies as chief spokesperson for the University's undergraduate career planning.

* Addresses alumni groups, parents, faculty, student organizations, and other administrators on career-related issues. Makes concerted effort to develop new partnerships with parents and faculty.

* Serve on college-wide committees and represent the Career Resource Center on task as requested by the President and/or Vice President for Student Affairs

* Chair and/or serve on search committees as requested and as availability allows.

* Familiar with career related issues/challenges that impact neurodiverse individuals.

Qualifications

Required:

* Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or equivalent

* Five or more years of experience in career development and/or employment counseling or the equivalent.

Preferred:

* Two or more years of experience in higher education

* Two or more years of experience in a senior or leadership role
