Description:

The Director of the Cheese and Deli Team is responsible for exceptional Guest Service in every Plum Market retail location. The Director will lead the store teams in managing inventory, margin and sales performance, labor budgets, pricing integrity, product selection, and merchandising standards. In addition, the Director will ensure all Cheese and Deli Team Members receive proper training, evaluation, and feedback.

Who you are:

  • Ability to model and provide exceptional Customer Service.
  • Must have a love of Cheese and Deli Products.
  • Must be passionate about sourcing new, interesting and local products.
  • Must have a proven track record of industry success with 5+ years as a Team Leader or buyer.
  • Able to oversee and train in all areas of Cheese and Deli management including proper rotation and labeling, food safety, and sanitation.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and ability to lead by example.
  • Must be willing to travel when necessary to support all Plum Market retail locations, new store openings, to acquire new vendor relationships, and to attend trade shows.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Able to stand and walk for up to 4 hours.
  • Ability to bend and stoop to grasp objects, climb ladders, lift loads, up to 50 lbs. unassisted, push and pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs. unassisted.

What you will do:

  • Model and provide exceptional Customer Service.
  • Will train, mentor, and coach Team Members to succeed.
  • Must achieve and maintain target margins and sales goals.
  • Must uphold the vision for all aspects of departmental operations including sales / promotions, merchandising, and the responsibilities of all team member positions.
  • Schedule and run monthly / quarterly meetings with vendors.
  • Develop and update templates to coordinate retail store and vendor deals
  • Research and develop new and unique products for the department.
  • Execute new product lines from start to finish; pricing, signage, training, demos and merchandising.
  • Effectively negotiate vendor deals and expectation agreements.
  • Update and maintain quarterly promotion report including cost, sales, margin, length of sale, and vendor support.
  • Develop in-store report for team to evaluate and execute promotions.
  • Participate in interviews, hiring, and performance reviews for Team Leaders and Shift Leaders.
  • Develop, maintain and update training guides for Team Leaders and Team Members to improve ordering, margin, performance and sales.
  • Scheduling of regular product demos with vendors.
  • Maintain and update order guides, vendor information, and rebate programs.
  • Manage departmental inventories, including the development of systems and standards for accuracy and uniformity of all retail locations.
  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Team Members and Store Leadership.
  • Thorough knowledge of all relevant Plum Market policies and standards and compliance from all departmental Team Members
