Description Position Summary Lead membership growth in Girl Scouts. The Director of Community Engagement drives strategy to meet membership goals throughout a 23-county jurisdiction. The Director manages and supports a team to recruit new girl members and volunteers to join the world's premier leadership organization for girls. The Director provides strategic oversight of membership growth initiatives while seeking innovative tactics to reach prospects in urban and rural communities year-round. The successful candidate is a champion of ensuring all girls who want access to Girl Scouting will be invited to participate. The Director will motivate and inspire their team to achieve goals while holding staff accountable to best practices and defined metrics. The candidate is a confident manager who leverages data and technology to inform strategic decisions, and possesses outstanding communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Develop and execute comprehensive recruitment strategies to meet enrollment goals.
- Collaborates with the Chief Operating Officer, leadership staff, and department team to:
- Create a roadmap for sustainable membership growth;
- Establish short- and long-range plans and goals to achieve membership objectives;
- Outline a data-driven member recruitment strategy and implementation plan;
- Develop and manage budgets related to recruitment activities;
- Analyze market trends and demographics to identify opportunities for growth.
- Cultivate relationships with community organizations including schools, organizations, corporations, and faith-based institutions to build partnerships in support of growing Girl Scouting.
- Organize and attend events, fairs, and presentations to showcase the benefits of Girl Scouts.
- Provide training and support to volunteers and troop leaders on effective recruitment strategies.
- Collaborate with existing Girl Scout members to involve them in recruitment efforts.
- Implement strategies to ensure diversity and inclusion in recruitment efforts, reaching out to underrepresented communities.
- Continuously evaluate and improve recruitment processes based on feedback and performance metrics.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and incorporate them into recruitment strategies.
- Support the creation marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, and digital content, to promote Girl Scout programs.
- Develop strategies to measure and strengthen member engagement.
- Oversite of all new membership data, tracking, and reporting council-wide.
- Energetically lead a motivated team.
Education or Experience - Bachelor's Degree in Community Organizing or Engagement, Education, Marketing, Business Administration, Human Services, or related field. Other combinations of education with relevant experience that demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position will be considered.
- Minimum 3 years experience leading and managing teams; preferably in community organizing or a related field.
- Experience in building community relations preferred.
- Experience working with diverse communities, youth-serving organizations, or community-based organizations, preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communicator.
- Outstanding project management skills and operates with an entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Skilled relationship-builder with a demonstrated ability to motivate and collaborate effectively across difference and across every level of the organization.
- A proactive team player willing to pitch in at all levels while also holding a big picture, systems thinking mindset.
- Strong work ethic with a high degree of curiosity and a learning orientation; someone who leads and operates with a high level of integrity, confidentiality and discretion.
- Be or become a registered member of the Girls Scouts of the United States of America; have a working knowledge of Girl Scout philosophy and programming, and be committed to the Girl Scout mission. Prior Girl Scout experience not required.
- Excellent presentation skills paired with impressive organizational and tracking abilities.
- High capacity to master and leverage technology platforms including Salesforce and Looker.
- Spanish bilingual skills are a plus.
- Willing to perform other related duties as requested.
Other Requirements - Anticipated time away from office is 30%.
- Must be able to occasionally work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
- Possess a valid drivers' License and proof of insurance.
- Must be able to work both in an office setting and independently off-site.
- Be prepared to deliver recruitment events and activities during evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements - The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to withstand:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Operate office equipment manually.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds at times.
