As a member of the Feeding America network, we will work to dismantle barriers for individuals, families and seniors across our area - because it's possible.SUMMARYCommitted to improving the lives of our neighbors and building a healthier Tampa Bay, our nutrition education programs focus on increasing both the health and capability of our neighbors in need, and the capacity of our many critical community partners to deploy health and nutrition education strategies across our region.JOB OVERVIEWThe Director of Community Health & Nutrition will be responsible for the leadership, implementation, and oversight of all healthcare and nutrition teams and programs at Feeding Tampa Bay. This role will involve overseeing comprehensive regional nutrition education and health programming to engage individuals and families at food distribution sites, services, and partner organizations across our 10-county service area.As a Registered Dietician, the Director will lead and manage the Nutrition Education and Healthcare Programs Teams to team, composed of regional Nutrition Educators, Nutrition Data team, PSE Specialist, and Nutrition Education Manager increase. The team will focus on increasing champion initiatives for increased food security and access, decreasing the risk of chronic diseases and health concerns associated with food insecurity, and advocating for and empowering food bank partners to adopt healthy practices.The Director will work closely with State program representatives and partners to develop and implement evidence-based nutrition education programs, including classes, nudges, recipes, cooking demonstrations, and materials. Additionally, they will collaborate with FTB senior leadership to develop and implement an organization-wide nutrition culture aligned with the strategic plan. This will involve working with all departments to develop implementation plans and ensure successful transitions.To advance our mission, the Director will build strong relationships with healthcare providers, hospitals, and health systems. They will identify opportunities for collaboration and create innovative programs that improve the health and well-being of our communities. The Director will oversee the healthcare partnership team and be responsible for program implementation, including healthcare food distribution programs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Program Development and Implementation
  • Oversee the expansion and implementation of Nutrition Education Programs across various Agency sites and partners.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, trauma-informed nutrition culture strategy.
  • Create and publish a detailed nutrition curriculum for both general and medical provider audiences.
  • Oversee the development of nutritionally compliant meals for various programs, including AMP, SFSP, and Senior Meals.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary Operations team to create healthy, cost-effective recipes.
  • Develop and implement innovative programs and initiatives addressing food insecurity and health disparities.
  • Partnership Development and Management
  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with healthcare organizations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in partner organizations.
  • Negotiate and execute partnership agreements to maximize impact and resource utilization.
  • Represent the organization at community events and conferences.
  • Oversee partner credentialing and training.
  • Develop and manage a regional Nutrition Education Steering Committee.
  • Team Leadership and Management
  • Supervise the Healthcare and Nutrition Education teams.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop high-performing team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to dietetic interns.
  • Manage a tailored, comprehensive database to track nutrition program data.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Grant Management and Financial Oversight
  • Oversee programming and budget adherence for healthcare and nutrition-related grants.
  • Develop and manage budgets for Healthcare and Nutrition Departments programs.
  • Work collaboratively to design and implement nutrition-related social enterprise activities.
  • Community Engagement and Outreach
  • Engage community partners and the general public about Feeding Tampa Bay's mission and strategy.
  • Serve as a liaison to community resources.
  • Provide nutrition education and healthy nudges programming.
  • Develop, procure, and distribute relevant nutrition materials.
  • Maintain strong relationships with academic institutions, including the University of South Florida and Bay Pines Veterans Programs.
  • Administrative and Operational Duties
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Cross-train in other areas of the Operations Division.
  • Adhere to all policies, principles, and best practices for food safety.
  • Demonstrate a professional and helpful attitude at all times.
  • Registered Dietician Services
  • Serve as the designated Registered Dietician on the Food as Medicine Accelerator.
  • Provide Registered Dietician services for a medically tailored meal pilot.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary Operations team to ensure meals are culturally responsive and nutrient-dense

  • Masters of Public Health or other relevant degree and currently credentialed as a Registered Dietician (RDN)
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience working in low-income, culturally diverse community settings.
  • Knowledge and experience with homeless or housing-insecure populations is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively with non-English speaking populations,low-income areas, children and families, or seniors, and other diverse groups.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects, taking the initiative to improve the programs. Skilled in coordinating projects smoothly while maintaining a collaborative work style with other teams within FTB.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills with public speaking, including giving group presentations and training workshops with diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage and document deliverables and data from a number of sources. Spreadsheet skills a must.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within 10 counties
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Current employees must be in good standing, with no active corrective actions on file
