Job Description:

Responsible for building and maintaining appropriate census to ensure revenue and census projections are reached, as well as the overall management and supervision of the Community Relations staff. Responsible for creating and maintaining a positive and effective working relationship within the regional hospitals, physicians, communities and with payors. Responsible for educating the medical community on all aspects of the Hospital and its services with emphasis on the referral and admission process.

  • Census Building: Monitor managed care activity and strategize appropriately for contacts and market share including one-on-one educational calls as necessary.
  • Budgeting: Develop and administer department budget, ensuring costs are submitted for reimbursement within given time frames.
  • Communication: Select most effective strategy (face-to-face, group presentation, direct mail, tours, workshops, etc.) for each contact. Exchange ideas, information and messages readily and effectively, both in oral and written form, as required by the job. Provide patient updates to physicians, payors and other referral sources.
  • Planning and Organization: Understand work objectives, establish priorities, anticipate and handle problems and carry out work activities in an orderly manner to meet defined standards.
  • Assessment: Perform on-site clinical assessments of patients referred to the Hospital to determine patient's clinical needs and appropriateness of admission, using the pre-admission assessment form, in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Referral Development: Attend local conferences and trade shows at which company representatives may exhibit or attend to achieve the maximum return on investment. Assist in coordinating the periodic direct mail campaigns to targeted managed care customers, with the assistance of management. Participate in referral services weekly team meetings.
  • Recording and Tracking: Develop marketing plan and competitive analysis on time; use established reporting mechanisms and provide data and statistics as required. Complete physician profiles and territory/time management reports on time.
  • Productivity: Works on a timely basis and with good quality. Effectively use own time and time of others. Show initiative. Contribute, develop and/or carry out new ideas or methods.

Education/Experience:Bachelors degree in a related area.Licensure as a Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist preferredA minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in healthcare marketing. Supervisory experience preferred
