Position: Director of Conferences and Events Status: Full-Time, Regular, ExemptDepartment: Finance & AdministrationReports to: Vice President of MarketingSalary: $70,000.00/yearPaul Smith's College is seeking a dynamic, results-driven Director of Conferences and Events to lead efforts in maximizing revenue-generating opportunities, particularly during the underutilized summer months, while also supporting key internal programming. The Director will work closely with the Admissions, Advancement, and Visitors Interpretive Center (VIC) teams to drive engagement, create future pipelines for prospective students, donors, and friends, and support growth in graduate and certificate programs. The Director will generate impactful, mission-aligned experiences on campus and play a pivotal role in attracting external clients for conferences, large-scale events, youth programming, certification programs, and symposiums that align with Paul Smith's unique areas of strength.The Director will also partner closely with Sodexo food services to ensure seamless coordination for on-campus events and dining. This individual will be responsible for leading and organizing major campus ceremonies, including but not limited to commencement, ensuring each event reflects the College's culture and standards of excellence.Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in event planning, revenue generation, and sales, particularly in higher education or a similar environment.
  • Excellent organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners, including Sodexo.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of trends and best practices in event management and youth development programming.
