Position Summary Firmo Construction is seeking a proficient Director of Construction to join our leadership team during a pivotal period of growth. We are looking for an experienced leader who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment. As the Director of Construction, you will be instrumental in driving the success of our hotel construction projects, nurturing relationships with clients and stakeholders, and actively contributing to the company's strategic growth. In this key role, you will lead our construction department, ensuring project success through strategic planning, budgeting, and delivery-all while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities As the Director of Construction, you will oversee all construction department activities, including:
  • Foster a collaborative environment that promotes effective performance management and alignment with Firmo's objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency and profitability in construction operations, aligned with long-term company goals.
  • Oversee project life cycles, including budgeting, quality control, and safety, to ensure successful and timely project completion.
  • Analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement, manage risks, and provide strategic recommendations to executives.
  • Manage resources-materials, labor, and timelines-and coordinate internal teams and external vendors for optimal project delivery.
  • Establish and manage project budgets, monitor expenditures, and maintain financial accountability.
  • Ensure comprehensive project documentation and compliance with all standards and requirements.
  • Track project performance using appropriate tools, address issues proactively, and escalate them to executives when needed.
  • Ensure accurate staffing forecasts to support both short-term needs and long-term growth.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and participate in construction management software implementation.
  • Encourage continuous learning and development by mentoring team members to enhance their skills and career growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and industry peers to drive project success and future opportunities.
Competencies
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience in construction processes, project management, and operational workflows.
  • Ability to navigate the complexities of construction environments, including scheduling, advanced budgeting and forecasting, compliance, quality control, and safety standards.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to solve problems creatively and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Builds strong relationships and facilitates open dialogue.

  • Strong familiarity with construction industry-specific software and tools.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management/business or related.
  • Master's degree advantageous but not required.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or similar are highly favorable.
  • 5-10 years in construction operations management with a record of successful project delivery.
  • Expertise in construction methods and project management software tools.
  • Experience managing regional teams and projects.
  • Extensive experience in the construction industry, particularly in a leadership role, is crucial.
  • Ability to travel frequently, primarily within the Southeast.
  • Position reports to Atlanta, GA or Sarasota, FL office. This is not a remote position.
