Summary:

Under the supervision of the Vice President for Advancement, the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations assumes responsibility for the planning and implementation of the TESU Foundation's corporate and foundation giving program.

Job Duties:

* Regular meetings with faculty, deans, senior administrators and development colleagues to develop and maintain a list of institutional funding priorities and goals, and to provide timely information on funding opportunities.

* Maintain a schedule of contacts with corporate and foundation representatives, keep detailed records of solicitation activities within Raisers Edge, and disseminate corporate and foundation interests throughout the University.

* The Director will interact with offices throughout TESU to leverage diverse corporate and foundation connections into coordinated college-wide strategies.

* Prepare, edit and manage proposal deadlines and submissions and follow up reporting.

* Ensure that stewardship and reporting requirements are met to sustain successful corporate and foundation partnerships, and develop new relationships with institutional prospects.

* Take ownership for special projects as needed to advance the mission and effectiveness of the corporate and foundation relations effort

* Identify new sources of foundation and corporate support to advance the University's mission.

Requirements:

Education: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree supplemented by a Master's degree in a field related to the position to be filled or equivalence as determined by the appointing authority.

Experience: Four years professional experience as a faculty member in an institution of higher education or administrator in education, higher education or other field that is directly related to the functions of the position to be filled or equivalence as determined by the appointing authority.

Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute required experience on a year-for-year basis (30 credit hours is considered one year of college).

A Ph.D. or an Ed.D. degree may be substituted for two years of the required experience.

Examples of Work:

* Identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding corporations, corporate foundations, and private foundation funding opportunities.

* Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive, proactive development plan to obtain philanthropic support.

* Establish long-term partnerships and strengthen existing relationships with the corporate and foundation sector, as well as other key communities that will result in funding for the immediate and long-term goals of TESU.

* Research and identify sources of support, proactively seek opportunities to generate new proposals based on corporate and foundation guidelines and interests, and maintain strong communication with corporate and foundation donors and prospects.

* Work closely with University staff to build awareness among corporate and foundation constituencies in order to build and expand positive fundraising relationships. Identify key alumni within corporations/foundations and review corporate profiles that suggest potential relationships because of common interests.

* Initiate opportunities for staff, administrators, and deans to interact with corporate and foundation prospects and relay corporate and foundation interests to TESU constituencies.

* Develop new approaches to foundations and corporations and coordinate contacts to initiate the cultivation/fundraising process.

* Develop highly competitive proposals for corporate and foundation prospects and leverage diverse corporate and foundation goals and preferences in conjunction with the University's mission and goals.

* Monitor proposal deadlines, prepare and edit proposals, and manage proposal submissions.

* Maintain a schedule of contacts with corporate and foundation representatives, and create moves management plans specifically related to them.

* Maintain a high-quality stewardship process for active corporate and foundation prospects and donors. Ensure that stewardship and reporting requirements are met to sustain successful partnerships by maintaining detailed records of solicitation activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

* Knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques, particularly in the area of corporate and foundation fundraising techniques.

* Knowledge of TESU policies and procedures or related organizational procedures.

* Demonstrated ability in grant and proposal writing at appropriate levels for varied proposal development.

* Demonstrated knowledge of methods, practices and procedures for obtaining information about the giving programs of corporations and foundations.

* Self-motivation and discipline to regularly set and achieve work goals.

* Excellent organizational, interpersonal and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals are essential.

* Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances.

* Ability to initiate and build relationships with prospective corporate and foundation donors, and interact via telephone and in person with institutional representatives.

* Demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision.

* Demonstrated record of success in generating significant commitments from corporations, foundations, and federal funding sources.

* Ability to work with Board members, Deans and school leadership to identify needs and opportunities.

* Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with corporations and foundations to advance University strategies, secure and renew funding.
