Director of Database AdministrationWe are looking to hire a Director of Database Administration within our Corporate division based in the Atlanta metro area. As the Director of Database Administration, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the organizations entire database infrastructure. This role includes managing a team of database administrators (DBAs), ensuring the security, scalability, and performance of database systems, and implementing best practices for database management across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will bring strategic leadership, technical expertise, and a strong background in database architecture and administration. Databases include Oracle, MySQL, Progress, Postgresql, AWS RDS and others.As a Director of Database Administration, you will be expected to work in onsite environment reporting to our Atlanta metro office location.We set you up for success by providing: Company-issued equipmentAssigned workspace in a hybrid environmentFormal, hands-on trainingDirector of Database Administration Role Responsibilities Leading and managing a team of database administrators, providing coaching, mentorship, and career development to ensure high performance and growth.Setting team goals, track performance, and optimize workflows to ensure effective database operations.Fostering a collaborative work environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and the adoption of best practices.Defining and executing a long-term database strategy in alignment with business goals and evolving technology needs.Overseeing the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance database systems.Collaborating with architecture, development, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of databases.Ensuring proactive monitoring, tuning, and optimization of databases to maintain high performance and meet service-level agreements (SLAs).Identifying performance bottlenecks and work to resolve them through advanced troubleshooting, optimization, and capacity planning.Implementing database automation solutions for backups, patching, monitoring, and scaling to increase operational efficiency.Overseeing the development and enforcement of database security policies, ensuring data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.Leading database security audits and implement best practices for data protection, including encryption, access control, and vulnerability management.Collaborating with the security team to address emerging threats and mitigate risks.Leading the design and implementation of disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) strategies for critical database systems.Ensuring that backup and restore processes are automated, reliable, and aligned with business continuity requirements.Regularly testing DR and HA strategies to ensure readiness and minimize downtime.Managing database-related projects, including migrations, upgrades, and system integrations, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.Working closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., development, IT operations, business units) to support project goals and align database efforts with company objectives.Serving as the primary point of contact for all database-related matters, providing technical expertise and guidance to senior management and other teams.Effectively communicating database health, incidents, performance trends, and improvements to senior leadership and stakeholders.Collaborating with development and IT teams to optimize database-related aspects of applications and services.Director of Database Administration Qualifications & Skills Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Masters degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) is a plus.10+ years of experience in database administration, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.Strong experience with multiple database platforms (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).In-depth knowledge of database architecture, performance tuning, and optimization.Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and automation tools is a plus.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with a keen attention to detail.In-depth technical expertise in database systems, including security, backup, recovery, and performance management.Solid understanding of database lifecycle management, automation, and orchestration.Ability to work cross-functionally with teams to drive database solutions and projects to successful completion.Director of Database Administration Benefits & Perks Medical, Dental & Vision benefits available the 1st month after hireAutomatic enrollment into our 401k plan (subject to eligibility requirements)Virtual fitness classes offered company-wideRobust PTO offerings including: major holidays, vacation, sick, personal, & volunteer timeEmployee discounts with major providers (i.e. wireless, gym, car rental, etc.)Philanthropic support with both local and national organizationsFun culture with company-wide contests and prizes#RT#DICEJOBS
