Job Summary
The Director of Development and Community Relations is responsible for spearheading all resource development activities of the affiliate. This role entails collaborating with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to execute the annual operating campaign, special fundraising initiatives, and ongoing endowment-building efforts through major gift and planned giving solicitation. The Director will manage donor relations and the contribution database and should be proficient in grant writing and lifecycle management.
Additionally, the Director of Development and Community Relations will serve as a backup to the Executive Director, stepping in to fulfill the responsibilities of the position during the Executive Director's absence.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising (70%)
· Achieve annual fundraising goals and ensure consistent year-over-year revenue growth.
· Maintain and update the affiliate development plan, which includes the quarterly and annual development goals.
· Evaluate current fundraising initiatives to support operating revenues.
· Plan and implement annual operating campaigns.
· Research and submit grant opportunities to support the agency's mission.
· Expand the donor base to support operations.
· Represent the agency at a minimum of two events per month.
· Collaborate with the Board of Directors on fundraising efforts.
Marketing (15%)
· Develop and implement an annual marketing plan for outreach to various referral sources.
· Write, edit, and publish all marketing materials, including brochures, stationery, envelopes, and other items as authorized by the Executive Director.
· Produce donor newsletters, press releases, and ensure consistent Habitat for Humanity branding across all platforms.
· Obtain quotes from local printers for all printed materials bearing the affiliate's logo.
Special Events Management (5%)
· Organize annual fundraising events in collaboration with the Development Committee.
· Create opportunities for businesses and agencies to volunteer with HFHNWI on community projects.
· Develop and manage Affiliate special events.
· Oversee the Speaker's Bureau and encourage participation from Board members and volunteers.
· Work with the Volunteer and Donor Engagement Manager on special volunteer events.
· Attend community group meetings related to our services as authorized by the Executive Director.
Donor Database Management (5%)
· Ensure accurate entry of all contributions, both monetary and in-kind, into the donor database.
· Review mailing lists generated by the database for accuracy and duplication.
· Verify information on the Annual Report from the database.
· Assist the Executive Director with any database-related issues.
· Acknowledge all contributors by letter and list them in the Annual Report.
Volunteer Recruitment (5%)
· Collaborate with the Volunteer and Donor Engagement Manager Volunteer and Donor Engagement Manager to develop a volunteer recruitment plan.
· Recruit businesses and corporations for All fundraising activities. (Honor Build, Women Build…)Maintain relationships with corporate contacts in collaboration with the Volunteer and Donor Engagement Manager.
· Attend civic, social, and business group speaking engagements, , , and other events as requested by the Executive Director.
Job Requirements
· Bachelor's degree with experience in nonprofit development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, or similar fields.
· Experience in grant writing and award management.
· Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
· Goal-oriented and creative in facing challenges and opportunities.
· Motivated by Habitat for Humanity's mission and vision.
· Team player with an understanding of the critical role each member plays in the success of the Affiliate.
· Valid driver's license.
· Microsoft Office Proficient
· Knowledge of C.R.M and Social Media tools – including but not limited to: Every Action, Firespring, Freewill, Wordpress, Facebook, Instagram, Google Ads.
· Willing to learn all grant management tools currently used and any future required upon award.
· C.F.R.E. preferred
