Working closely with the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Development, Individual Giving leads Children's Cancer Research Fund's (CCRF) effort to cultivate and secure major gifts and planned gifts. This position works closely with and reports to the Chief Development Officer and is accountable for the development, planning, and implementation of innovative fundraising strategies for mid-level, major, and planned giving programs – providing leadership, support and direction to the major and mid-level programs to raise approximately $3M annually.
The Director of Development, Individual Giving serves as a key member of the Development team and CCRF's Extended Leadership Team (ELT). The role develops positive relationships with other senior leaders, board members, and key donors to achieve ambitious fundraising goals. The position sets the vision for mid-level, major and planned giving donor engagement, balancing near-term goals with future-oriented plans and strategies. The position personally manages a portfolio of 60-80 major donors. All gift officers (currently 3) report to this position.
This position is hybrid, and requires travel two (2) times a week to our headquarters in Minneapolis, MN.
Responsibilities of this role:
- Plans, schedules, and implements fundraising activities to advance the mid-level, major and planned gift pipelines. Collaborates to develop detailed major and principal gift opportunities tailored to the interest of potential donors consistent with CCRF's fundraising priorities.
- Manages a portfolio of 60-80 donors and prospects with the financial capacity for gifts of $25,000+ to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects for major and planned gifts.
- Responsible for personally securing $750,000+ in major and planned gifts annually.
- Serves as key partner outlining the overarching Development Team strategies with the Chief Development Officer, CEO, key donors and volunteers, and other members of the Development Team.
- Oversees growth of a strong Planned Giving Program
- Oversees strategies to cultivate the mid-level donor segment and devise and execute plans to continuously move donors toward Major Gift giving.
- Builds strong relationships with key constituents and leverages the capacity of other team members, senior management and the board of directors to make connections and engage, secure and retain donors.
- Coordinate with Operations, Engagement and Donor Relations colleagues to support an effective program for recognition, engagement and stewardship of major and planned gift donors.
- Travel periodically to visit with regional and national donors.
- Partner with colleagues across the organization to create optimal donor experiences and achieve fundraising goals.
- Collaborate with pediatric cancer researchers and care providers at the University of Minnesota and other institutions across the U.S. to understand the needs of the pediatric cancer community.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5-7 years' experience in major donor relationship management
- 3-5 years' experiencing managing an individual giving program or capital campaign and leading a team focused on individual giving
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficient in budget and expense management
