Description Job Summary The Director of Development in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources is responsible for identifying, building relationships and advancing gifts at the major gift level, $50,000 and up with an emphasis on six-figure gifts from a portfolio of assigned prospects. This position is slotted in Group 4 and has an average gift size of $200,000 as its primary Key Performance Indicator (KPI). with a portfolio of assigned donors, prospects, corporations, and foundations. Collaboration with WVUF Central Staff is required. Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Execute qualifying discussions to define philanthropic aspirations of individuals, corporations, and foundations identified by the WVU Foundation with capacity of $50,000+ with an emphasis on six-figure gifts.Manage a portfolio of major and planned gift donors and prospects, as defined by the WVU Foundation, through qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.Plan, schedule, and complete frequent travel, both regional and national, to contact prospects and donors in completion of portfolio/pipeline management.Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of the College and University, including mission, history, and current fundraising priorities assuring effective representation of all opportunities and priorities for private support.Build and manage a network of relationships with prospective donors involving University and College leadership, faculty, and volunteers. Facilitate and coordinate all communication with these prospects and among the prospect's campus relationships.Coordinating with Prospect Development and Strategy, suggest strategy meetings on multi-interest prospects with fundraising colleagues to keep gift discussions moving forward in a donor centric fashion. Collaborate with Foundation and College leadership as well as fundraising colleagues to develop strategies to link donor interest with the College's priorities.Coordinate with Donor Relations program to develop and execute personalized stewardship plans for select donors and prospects at the College level.In conjunction with the Executive Director of Development, coordinate the nomination process for various recognition programs, including Statler College Hall of Fame, Order of Vandalia, Honorary Degree, and the Academy of Distinguished Alumni.Comply with all WVU Foundation reporting and accountability standards and coordinate development efforts with university development staff as needed.Complete additional assignments required by the supervisor, other Foundation senior management or the Dean as appropriate. Qualifications Education and/or ExperienceCandidates must have a bachelor's degree. A minimum of 4 years of direct and progressively responsible experience in annual giving/major/planned gift fundraising or other employment involving similar direct client engagement is required.Computer SkillsProficiency in computer and internet usage is necessary. The ability to accurately enter data into a database and recall information through reports is necessary.Work EnvironmentThe position is hybrid in alignment with the WVUF work/telecommuting policies. There are times when it will be necessary to be in-person. Frequent travel is required regionally with some overnight stays. There may be an occasion where national travel is warranted. Air travel may be required. Some weekend and evening work is required.Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: A valid driver's license is required.
