Position Overview: The Director of District Leadership Content & Training will lead the development of content, facilitate and manage high-impact training, overseeing both internal and external stakeholders to implement three statewide district and campus-level supports: •The Effective Schools Framework (ESF): Supports campuses with planning and implementing effective systems through the ESF Diagnostic, which provides campuses with an understanding of current state of key campus systems - e.g., culture, talent, curriculum and instruction - to support identifying research-based practices to advance student outcomes. •The Effective District Framework (EDF): Supports districts with planning and implementing effective systems to achieve their envisioned student experience and outcomes.The framework's key areas include Organizational Planning & Performance Management, Talent Systems, Culture & Student Support Experience, Academic Experience, Instructional Capacity Building, and Finance and Operations. •Texas Strategic Leadership (TSL):Provides coaching for superintendents and their leadership teams through identifying, planning, and implementing systems and best practices to achieve their envisioned student experience and ambitious student outcomes. The TSL combines EDF -based landscape analysis with data-driven strategic planning and performance management. The Director of District Leadership Content and Training will report to the Director of District Leadership Supports, closely partnering with the director and senior agency leadership to collaboratively strategize, plan, and deliver the supports above. As a leader of fast-moving programmatic work, the Director will be responsible for quality assurance of content and supports, rolling up and reporting out pilot data and lessons learned to the Division Director of District Strategic Supports and other senior leaders at the TEA. The Director will performance manage technical assistance vendors and Education Service Centers, while also managing a small internal TEA team toward strong delivery. The role will involve high profile interactions and relationship-building with ESC leadership and district superintendents, their leadership teams, and at times also district board members. The role entails significant internal TEA and external stakeholder engagement to ensure content and supports provided incorporate our strongest content expertise and field feedback. This role sits within TEA's Division of District Strategic Leadership, which includes the District Leadership Supports Team and the District Strategic Advising Team which collectively support superintendents, districts, and campuses across Texas with strategic planning, performance management, and research-based best practices. Essential FunctionsJob duties are not limited to the essential functions mentioned below. You may perform other functions as assigned. 1. Program Planning, Strategy, and Plan Management: Partner with District Leadership Supports director and other agency leaders to develop a 3-5year strategy and vision for continuously developing out and improving the Effective Schools Framework, Effective District Framework, and Texas Strategic Leadership content. Collaborate with team to develop and manage against a robust project plan to drive toward short- and long-term milestones 2. Content Development Management: Manage team and vendors in high quality content development including framework language, diagnostic tools suite, core trainer of trainers professional development material, and district-facing material, and any additional aligned content; directly develop content when needed, as well. Engage a breadth of cross-agency and external stakeholders in developing high quality content 3. Professional Development Delivery: Directly deliver and manage team and partners to deliver high impact professional development and ongoing job-embedded coaching aligned to principles of adult learning 4. ESC TSL Team Coaching and Performance Management: Manage annual scope and metrics/goals development for ESC TSL team in partnership with leaders; build collaborative relationship with ESC TSL teams and manage toward key deliverables and outcomes, including strong district experience and coach/vendor training delivery, special projects 5. Team Management and Supervision: Manage and coach teammates effectively toward program outcomes and individual development goals and needs; foster a positive, productive, and collaborative team culture Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications•Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university •Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in: 1) managing large, complex projects and developing or implementing project management systems; 2) serving in a school or district leadership role; and 3) managing a team with at least one direct report Other Qualifications •Share the belief that all Texas students can achieve at high levels and are able to succeed in college, career, or the military •Vision and strategy-building skills •Keen eye toward building high quality content aligned to best practices, research, and adult learning principles •Track record of success building and managing a team towards ambitious goals by setting clear expectations and holding others accountable for performance •Strong coaching and capacity-building skills to help new and existing teammates perform effectively •Highly organized with strong long-term planning and project management skills; ability to balance the demands of multiple projects at different stages of development while maintaining quality and consistency across all work •Problem-solving orientation, with an ability to break down complex information into component parts, ask questions, synthesize, and analyze •Ability to build relationships and strong rapport with others, and an ability to manage relationships with senior district and internal agency stakeholders •Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic environment •Excellent written and oral communication skills •A desire to self-reflect, give/receive feedback and continuously improve •Prior experience with Texas schools and broad knowledge of Texas education preferred As an equal opportunity employer, we hire without consideration to race, religion, color, national origin, sex, disability, age or veteran status, unless an applicant is entitled to the military employment preference.
