Summary of Duties Responsible for the development and implementation of a standardized nursing orientation program, mentor training program, continuing education program, and competencies for clinical staff in the Senior Living Division. Responsible for clinical training programs including Certified Nurse Aide, Medication Administration, Certification (MAC), nursing programs, and other clinical training programs as directed. Essential Job Functions 1. Develops, and implements standardized orientation programs for nursing services and other clinical departments as directed. 2. Oversees and monitors nursing services orientation, training, and skills validation programs for the Division and recommends revisions to the programs as necessary. 3. Oversees and directs the Division's Certified Nurse Aide and Medication Administration, Certification training programs and serves as an instructor as needed. 4. Responsible for monitoring documentation of training provided. 5. Develops and implements clinical competencies for initial orientation and annual review. 6. Develops continuing education programs consistent with professional and regulatory guidance which includes but is not limited to the following elements: a. Ongoing assessment of staff strengths and weaknesses and responds to needs identified through Quality Assurance Performance Improvement activities and other monitoring activities. b. Development and implementation of annual calendar of educational offerings for all job categories. c. Continuing education pertinent to new equipment, disease processes, policies, procedures, and systems. d. Combination of theoretical and practical educational components. e. Development of measurement system for evaluating educational programs and identifying best practices. 7. Develops and implements program to educate staff regarding infection control program, employee health program, and employee injury prevention and respirator fit testing. 8. Obtains/Maintains the Senior Living Division continuing education provider number from the Alabama Board of Nursing (ABN). Assures that Senior Living Division based continuing education programs qualify for ABN contact hours. Maintains all continuing education program records in compliance with ABN education provider requirements. 9. Provides and/or coordinates all required annual inservices and monitors the staff's compliance through the Division's online learning system. 10. Participates in the Divisional Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Program. 11. Develops/procures patient education materials. 12. Serves as a liaison between the Senior Living Division facilities and the area Schools of Nursing as requested. 13. Serves as Director of Nursing at designated facilities during periods of staff absences or vacancy as requested. 14. Performs other duties as requested Education

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. A Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred
Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years progressive management and supervisory experience in a skilled nursing facility with at least one (1) year of experience in staff education activities is required
