Title: Director of Electrical Engineering Location: Onsite, Philadelphia, PA, one day remote Schedule: M-F 8 am-5 pm Type: Direct-Hire/Permanent Salary: 6-figures Start: Immediately Overview: A startup company developing a major new platform dedicated to improving outcomes through a revolutionary approach seeking a highly experienced and motivated Director of Electrical Engineering to lead our electrical engineering team in the design, development, and testing of this new medical platform. Responsibilities Develop and lead the electrical engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Drive the design and development of electrical sub-systems for major medical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Plan and support IEC 60601 requirements, EMC (design and troubleshooting), testing and other applicable regulatory standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical, human factors, mechanical engineering, regulatory affairs, quality, manufacturing, and vendors, to ensure successful product development and launch. Manage the electrical engineering budget and resource allocation effectively to meet project timelines and objectives. Mentor and develop engineering staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and career growth. Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes, and incorporate this knowledge into the engineering strategy. Qualifications: Requirements Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field; master's degree preferred. 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the medical device industry is highly preferred as long it is highly regulated enviornment. Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with IEC 60601 testing and compliance. Proven track record of successfully leading engineering projects from concept through to commercialization Excellent problem-solving, time management/prioritization skills and willing to work on electrical and non-electrical projects. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. Experience with printed circuit board design and troubleshooting, sensor integration and wire harness design/fabrication, battery backup design and AC/DC power distribution. Experience using lab equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, spectrum analyzer, signal generators, soldering) Familiarity with regulatory submissions and standards applicable to medical devices (e.g., FDA 21 CFR 820.30 and ISO 13485).
