Job Type Full-time Description LaPlaya Beach and Golf Resort is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to work at its beautiful 192 room, hotel and resort, located on the sandy shores of the Gulf of Mexico in Naples, Florida. If you have an energetic personality, and hands on approach to management we are interested in speaking with you. Requirements Essential Functions:

  • Oversees maintenance operations for the hotel to include refrigeration, heating, plumbing, HVAC, kitchen and laundry equipment, electrical systems, painting and finish work, dry wall, etc.
  • Plans and coordinates and manages the work of Engineering team ensuring all objectives are executed properly and completed timely, within budgetary constraints.
  • Maintain and track results of the preventative maintenance programs for guest rooms, public areas and back of house areas and equipment
  • Ensure that room maintenance requests are handled in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Monitors vendors to ensure quality, delivery, warranties, exchanges, upgrades, etc. are consistently utilized
  • Conducts inventory, purchasing and maintains departments budget to ensure hotel budgetary and forecast guidelines are met
  • Working with resort leadership develop financial forecasts
  • Ensure all emergency and life safety equipment and systems are inspected, tested and certified
  • Review all incident reports of property losses, fire, accidents, and reports of unusual occurrences to ensure complete investigation and follow up
  • Conduct fire safety inspections to ensure compliance with the law and corporate policy
  • Ensure the hotel is in compliance with all local, state and federal laws
  • Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Follow up on all alarms immediately to determine the exact location and cause
  • Determine emergency status and report findings to Front Desk, take immediate action as necessary
  • Lead in special projects and renovations around the hotel
  • Interview, hire and train all new Engineering team members
  • Develop schedules, and review and submit payroll for Engineering team
  • Coordinate resolution of guest incidents and problems and keep guests informed
Requirements
  • 5-10 years in the facilities maintenance engineering, preferably in hospitality or property management environment
  • At least 3 years of related management or directory experience
  • HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations and general maintenance skills required
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to use the computer
