Job Description:

Trillium Construction is now seeking a Director of Engineering in the Greater Buffalo NY area. This leadership role is pivotal in guiding engineering initiatives, overseeing design and plant layout, and managing improvements to existing product lines. The ideal candidate will possess a Professional Engineer (PE) license, strong business acumen, and deep expertise in industrial design and aggregate material handling systems.

Our client is a nationwide company providing equipment in a variety of industries such as: Asphalt, Minging, AG, Power General, Storage Tanks, and General construction.

Pay is up to $200k+ full benefits and potential $5k relocation

Duties:

Design & Engineering Leadership:

  • Lead the design and layout of mechanical installations for conveyor and material handling projects.
  • Provide initial layouts and coordinate detailed mechanical installation drawings.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of prints for approval, permit, installation, and as-built drawings.
  • Ensure all mechanical information is maintained accurately throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Project Management: Manage resource allocation, departmental planning, budget maintenance, and financial reporting.
  • Supervise engineering staff, ensuring efficient project assignment, task management, and scheduling.
  • Develop engineering design estimates for proposals and manage CPM schedules to meet milestones.
  • Technical Expertise & Coordination: Serve as an internal subject matter expert (SME) for material handling systems, interacting with clients, project management, procurement, and field operations.
  • Review and release equipment design submittals, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and standards.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. PE License required.
  • Experience: 6-10 years in mechanical/mining engineering, including 5 years in direct management of technical staff.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Autodesk Suite (Inventor, CAD, Vault, BIM 360), MS Office, Belt Analysis. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attributes: Self-motivated with a positive attitude, strong leadership, and team collaboration skills.
