About the Role: The Director of Engineering will play a key leadership role in overseeing the engineering department, driving technical excellence, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software products and services. You will collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, and other departments to deliver solutions that meet the needs of our customers and the strategic objectives of the business. You will be responsible for leading a team of engineers, promoting a culture of innovation, mentorship, and continuous improvement.The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in data engineering technologies and software design best practices, a drive for problem-solving, and a proven track record of successfully leading teams with passion and purpose. Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and inspire a growing engineering team, helping them grow both technically and professionally.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and accountability within the engineering organization.
    • Facilitate career development planning and performance reviews to ensure high engagement and retention.
  • Technical Strategy & Execution:
    • Partner with senior leadership to define and execute the long-term technical vision and strategy aligned with the company's goals.
    • Oversee the architectural design, implementation, and scaling of our SaaS products.
    • Ensure the delivery of high-quality software by establishing and promoting best practices, code reviews, and testing strategies.
  • Process Improvement & Innovation:
    • Identify and drive continuous improvements to engineering processes, from planning to execution.
    • Implement agile development methodologies to ensure efficient and predictable delivery of features.
    • Champion a culture of innovation, encouraging experimentation and problem-solving.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Ensure that engineering practices are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with industry best practices.
    • Maintain high standards of security, reliability, and performance across all product offerings.
    • Monitor and report on key performance metrics, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meet or exceed quality expectations.
  • Budget & Resource Management:
    • Help manage departmental budgets and resources to ensure effective and efficient utilization.
    • Drive resource allocation decisions and prioritize initiatives based on business impact.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience:
    • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role managing engineering teams.
    • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex SaaS products at scale.
    • Strong experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and web technologies (e.g., frontend, backend, databases).
    • Solid understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and modern development methodologies (Agile, CI/CD, DevOps).
    • Experience in building and scaling high-performance, reliable, and secure systems.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on both technical and business challenges.
    • Ability to work cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other departments to drive product success.
    • Strategic thinking and an ability to translate business goals into actionable technical plans.
    • Proven ability to manage ambiguity and drive consensus across teams.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth SaaS environment.
    • Experience with DevOps, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and automation tools.
    • Knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies.
