Job Description:
DescriptionEwi's client is hiring a Director to lead their Solar EPC division the state of New York. The director will lead project teams , overseeing and working in partnership with Engineering teams, Sr Project Managers, Project Managers, Superintendents and field employees to oversee the build of renewable energy projects. They will work to beat estimate budgets and improve the total Operating Profit margin over original bids The Director will develop and build great client relations and develop the companies employees. Responsible for regional P&L.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Manages portfolios of complex projects that span across a region or regions
    • Leads and enforces the safety policies and procedures and addresses non-compliance among all employees, subcontractors, and vendors
    • Works to exceed established goals and drive bottom-line P&L results; consistently makes good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment
    • Works with the project team to balance the delivery of projects against the realities of a budget; and problem solving, project management, and creative resourcefulness
    • Provides on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
    • Maximizes portfolio level cash flow by ensuring the team is adhering to the project invoicing schedule and ensures the team accurately documents and submits all receivables, quantity as-builts, change orders and claims
    • Passionately builds the team by attracting, interviewing, assessing, mentoring and retaining Top Performers
    • Manages and oversees field operation and engineering processes and procedures by visiting multiple project sites weekly
    • Drives enforcement of safety protocols by the project teams
    • Directs the execution of the project using the Quality Management System
    • Ensures successful development of the project schedule on each project and that the team is executing to the plan
    • Produces complete subcontracts and ensures all subcontractors execute to the agreement and the company's standards. Validates that the required documentation is received in a timely manner
    • Estimates, prices and negotiates owner initiated extra work, change of scope items, and contract deletions to maximize profits
    • Manages project and program issues and risks to mitigate impacts
    • Participates in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
    • Works with the Project Team to obtain status reports regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, which is further circulated to leadership across leadership
    • Assists in dispute, negotiation, arbitration, or litigation, as needed
    • Actively develops client relations to generate opportunities for new work
    • Participates in Marketing and Presales department activities to develop capture plans, teaming strategies, technical approach and bid strategies
    • Prepare estimates and detailed project plans
    • Champions resource management, planning, and training
    • Monitors staff performance and perform detailed performance reviews
Requirements
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related field with 10+ years of experience or equivalent with a track record of achievement and career progression.
    • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a Senior Project Manager and/or Director overseeing a portfolio of greenfield construction projects (previous renewable experience is highly desired)
    • Experience Successfully leading and managing complex portfolios valued at $30 million or a series of complex projects simultaneously with an aggregate value of $30 million.
    • Expertise building a team in a growth market by assessing, recruiting and developing A-players
    • Success in mentoring employees, and addressing shortcomings via both remediation and removal
    • Ability to seek-out, develop, and manage strategic relationships
    • Demonstrated high level of judgment - can sensitively apply knowledge and skills to select practical, effective courses of action
    • Previous experience in negotiating with both small and large-scale customers
    • Success managing subcontractors and developing and executing innovative project changes.
    • Proven success developing cost to completes, costing and pricing Change Orders, and maximizing profits.
    • Demonstrated ability to read, understand and interpret contract and insurance documents and
    • Background in project start-up meetings, subcontractor and vendor buyouts, owner estimates, sub / vendor requisitions and cost to completes
    • Expertise in successfully leading projects and programs to on-time, on-schedule and within budget
    • Experience influencing and gaining buy-in from stakeholders, executives, team members, and peers
    • Entrepreneurial with a well-rounded business perspective.
    • Excellent teamwork, communication and people skills a must.
    • Has a solid time management system and demonstrates excellent organizational skills
    • Working Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint, P6 Primavera and Bluebeam software with experience presenting to stakeholders and senior leadership.
    • Must be open to travel (weekly visits to project sites are required)
