Position Information
We are seeking a Director of Events position to maintain responsibility for Texas A&M AgriLife and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences events and venues, including pre- and post-conference liaison with clients and event activities. Supervises staff.
Responsibilities:
* Directs, manages, and oversees the coordination and marketing of signature events and conferences - includes scheduling, receiving/processing space requests, negotiating contracts, planning menus, overseeing deliveries, interacting with Texas A&M AgriLife's Marketing and Communication and Digital Learning teams and Texas A&M AgriLife and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences administrators.
* Establishes and implements short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures. Makes recommendations for policy and procedure implementation for signature events and venues.
* Prepares reports on event activities and facilities usage.
* Supervises assigned staff and hires, trains and provides orientation for new staff.
* Oversees and provides on-site customer liaison during events.
* Coordinates post-event review and follow-up contact.
* Ensures compliance with all AgriLife and University policies associated with event venues, including alcohol policies.
* Oversees venues and budgets for rental of all Texas A&M AgriLife and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences event spaces.
* Maintains and coordinates a centralized Events calendar for all venues.
* Coordinates safety and security of venues.
* Ensures pricing structure for event venues and services is competitive with local venues.
* Develops and maintains budgets for AgriLife Events and venues.
* Supports goals of the AgriLife Events unit and backup to those who are supervised (setups, staffing, etc.)
* Monitors newspapers, periodicals, websites, and other media to identify events that may influence facilities and other campus resources.
* Participates in University and local conferences/meetings to showcase Texas A&M AgriLife Venues to external clients.
* Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Ten (10) years of related experience in event planning and marketing including related supervisory experience.
* Exceptional customer service.
* Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
* Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Limited design experience preferred.
* Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
* Necessity to work cooperatively with others.
* Strong organizational skills customer and project follow through.
Other Requirements:
* Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
* Ability to travel.
