POSITION SUMMARY: This is an on-site position. The Director of Events is responsible for college-wide project management and leading, coordinating, planning and on-site execution of campus-wide events that support the goals and objectives of Quincy College. The Director of Events will utilize proficient leadership and problem-solving skills along with clear and robust communication, ensuring the department and the College meets its goals more efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate will take an organized and professionally assertive approach to this role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Manage projects and events from initiation to completion by developing comprehensive event plans, defining goals, tasks, timelines, resources, budget, and deliverables (including but not limited to staffing plans, run of show documents, invitations, and programs etc.)

* Lead, manage and execute campus-wide event programs including but not limited to Commencement, Scholarship Ceremony, Nursing pinning ceremonies, community events, trainings, and celebrations.

* Collaborate with staff and faculty to strategically plan and execute projects and events including but not limited to Career Fair, Transfer Fair, Accepted Students day, New Student Orientation, and student focused events.

* Lead planning meetings and clearly communicate expectations and deadlines to team members and stakeholders.

* Determine if any external consultants, contractors or vendors will be required to complete the project/event. If required, recruit and manage appropriate staffing resources.

* Track and report on projects and event to include project milestones and provide status reports to the project owner.

* Problem solve and suggest solutions for challenges that may arise throughout the project management and event planning process.

* Determine how success will be measured and host post-event debrief meetings to determine how well results were achieved. Encourage feedback from all constituents involved.

* Develop tools and best practices for events and project management.

* Maintain the campus wide event tracker in real time..

* Support the President's Executive Office with events, projects, initiatives and meetings as needed.

* Participate in alumni development and engagement projects and activities.

* Manage budget, purchase orders, vendor relationships as needed.

* Assume other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

* Minimum of three years project management experience required.

* Minimum of five years experience in the lead role as event planner.

* Experience in a higher educational environment or non-profit environment preferred.

* Proficient Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) experience required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

* Must be self-motivated and work best with a high level of autonomy; organized and detail-oriented, flexible and can improvise in any given situation.

* Must have strong communication and conversational skills.

* Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.

* Demonstrated experience with a wide variety of small and large-scale events.

* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

* Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, work independently, remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively and articulately, and attention to detail are essential.

* Participate in mandatory training/coursework; including but not limited to:

FERPA

Municipal Ethics Law

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: May be assigned to supervise staff and student workers.

TRAVEL: Occasional local travel may be required. Primary location is Quincy, Travel to Plymouth and Boston sites may be required. Travel to offsite event locations required.
