Director of Events & Venue Sales | 501 Union | Gowanus Brooklyn, NY
501 Union, the luxury event venue in Gowanus Brooklyn is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Director of Events with a proven track record in sales and marketing, successfully overseeing operations, driving revenue growth/profitability, and leading teams. This position will oversee sales, marketing, facility operations, and accounting support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in hospitality management, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences. This role requires excellent leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a hands-on approach to managing all aspects of the business.
SALES
- Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to drive revenue growth and achieve sales targets
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and industry partners to generate new business opportunities
- Lead the sales team in prospecting, negotiating contracts, and closing deals
- Improve closing ratios by implementing effective sales and marketing processes and strategies
- Proactively research and prospect for new business opportunities
- Build and strengthen client relationships
- Expand 501 Union's network within the event and business community
MARKETING
- Develop and execute marketing campaigns to promote the venue and attract prospective clients
- Create compelling content for digital and print platforms, including social media, website, and promotional materials
- Develop and maintain successful in person marketing events including open houses and industry marketing events.
FINANCE
- Collaborate with teams to maximize profitability and meet company profit goals
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and payroll for contractors
- Create, monitor, analyze financial metrics and strategize ways to improve them
- Manage day-to-day administrative duties
FACILITY OPERATIONS
- Create a welcoming and beautiful environment at 501 Union for clients, vendors and team members
- Supervise facility maintenance, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and compliance with required regulations
- Manage inventory and procurement of supplies, equipment, and services.
- Implement operational policies and procedures to optimize efficiency and service.
- Supervise a successful and profitable bar and beverage program
LEADERSHIP
- Exemplify and promote our company core values, hospitality standards and culture.
- Lead and maintain a high performing team that produces quality work
- Provide coaching and mentorship to the team. Foster new leadership.
- Identify and address training needs, implementing plans for continuous learning and advancement.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- A positive attitude and passion for special events
- A minimum of 5 years experience in sales and special events
- Experience managing and leading a team of sales and hospitality professionals
- Ability to discuss finances, budgets, and food and beverage offerings
- Ability to develop and execute sales plans and strategies in order to meet sales goals
- Excellent computer skills and experience with Triple Seat, Prismm, G-Suite, third-party marketing platforms, and social media preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- The ability to work well both independently and on a team
- Flexibility to work a schedule that may include evenings and weekends
SALARY & BENEFITS
- Annual salary of $85,000 plus bonus potential*
- Potential for hybrid work from home/office schedule after 90 days employment
