LifeGift is currently looking for a Director of Family Engagement who is responsible for coordinating activities to provide exceptional customer service for donor families and professional partners, to maximize organ and tissue donation opportunities. The Director is responsible for successfully developing and implementing plans to fulfill the goals and objectives of the Family Engagement Department, in collaboration with the Vice President of Family Engagement and Donation Services. The Director is responsible for providing effective leadership, planning, supervision, and performance of the department's staff and their activities in support of organizational goals. Collaborates with organizational leadership and staff to foster, promote, and sustain cross-departmental collaboration of optimal department, and organizational outcomes. Manages the ongoing analysis of all members of the Family Engagement Department, to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of services and functions. Serves as a liaison between LifeGift and donor families to address concerns and provide follow-up.

Do you possess the attributes to be a successful Director of Family Engagement and perform the following essential functions?

  • Directly supervises the Family Engagement Management team and supports supervision of staff. Provides 24/7 support for family engagement service operations and related activities as needed.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a consistent process for the donation conversation, including an effective approach for achieving authorization for organ, tissue, and research donation.
  • Shares best practices with the Family Engagement Management team, to make donation processes from donor referral to recovery as effective as possible, while maintaining the highest quality standards in family engagement and supportive care.
  • Responsible for analyzing effectiveness of authorization process and data in collaboration with the Vice President of Family Engagement and Donation Services.
  • Develops and implements action plans to promote and increase staff engagement, to nurture a motivated professional workforce.
  • Contributes toward the development and implementation of individual or group goals related to job performance, provides ongoing feedback on performance, implements corrective action, and conducts performance appraisals.
  • Critically examines and identifies opportunities for improvement, and leads performance improvement initiatives, in collaboration with Quality Systems and other departmental leadership.
  • Establishes, nurtures, and promotes ongoing relationships with hospitals and other key stakeholders.

Do you have the education and experience to be a Director of Family Engagement?

  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field, nursing, health care administration, social services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in an allied health field is required.
  • Previous experience in management is required; preference of five years minimum continuously, with experience in organ or tissue donation as a family care professional, dealing with grief, death and dying.
  • Previous experience in organ procurement and/or transplantation needed and preferred.
  • Working environment will consist of hospital and office environments.
