Job DescriptionStatement of the job: The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) seeks applicants for Director of Field Services within the College of Education, Health, and Rehabilitation. The Director of Field Services is a leadership position in the College of Education, Health, and Rehabilitation. This position oversees all aspects of PreK-12 field experiences, including placements, student support, supervision of field faculty, and field-based assessments. In addition, this role serves as an academic advisor and liaison with public schools. This position is full-time for ten (10) months, and part-time for two (2) months (July - August). The typical salary range for this position is $51,183 to $61,000 based on education, experience, and position criteria. - Participates as a member of the College of Education Leadership Team.
- Manages, monitors, and analyzes the field services budget and provides recommendations.
- Provides leadership, supervision, evaluation, and development within the Field Services team, which is comprised of full-time and part-time practica and student teaching supervisors.
- Creates, organizes, and delivers meetings for students and/or field supervisors.
- Assists with field-based assessment and the preparation of accreditation reports.
- Provides support to field supervisors whenever issues arise.
- Researches and shares best practices in effective field experiences and supervision.
- Collaborates with Global Education to inform students about international opportunities for student teaching.
- Oversees student teaching eligibility, placements, portfolio presentations, and recommendations for certification.
- Develops, implements, and utilizes online/electronic tools and resources to streamline processes.
- Serves as an academic advisor to Education majors.
- Creates and supports field placements outside of the formalized undergraduate practicum and student teaching experiences, including, but not limited to:
- Graduate special education internships
- Methods courses field experiences, as needed
- Coordinates with UMS faculty to ensure effective delivery of Elementary Physical Education (PE) methods, Middle & Secondary PE methods, and Adaptive PE methods
- Partners with UMF students and local schools to coordinate, support, and align fieldwork opportunities with course requirements and educational goals

Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education or a related field
- Minimum three (3) years teaching experience
- Evidence of school leadership roles
- Demonstrated supervisory and managerial experience

- Experience mentoring practicum students and/or student teachers
- Experience developing and presenting in-service training
- Experience working at a regional public institution of higher education
- Experience planning and facilitating programs and services
- Experience assessing programs and services
